    Best location in Town

    by

Nice hotel with very friendly staff. It is located 1/2 block from the Delgallado Theatre. You could easily walk to everything in the old town area. The hotel has a nice roof-top terrace which provides nice views of the immediate area.
No bar but they will bring you drinks in the lobby.
Pool and free Internet (only two computers available)
The entire area is very safe - day and night.

Unique Quality: Location cannot be beat.

  • A little old, but just right.

Service was excellent. Location, location, location is outstanding. The hotel seemed a little old, but the staff and the location was great. It is next to the Degollado Theater and Plaza Tapatia, 2 blocks from the cathedral. A short walk to the Mercado and did I mention while you are walking on the Plaza Tapatia towards the Mercado you pass several jewelry shops, big jewelry shops. Rooms are medium size, there is a swimming pool, a lounge area, no bar, the waiter brings you your drink . The dining area is very nice, the breakfast was excellent. The margaritas were bad. If you turn right as you leave the Hotel, just about 2 blocks, is the Musicians Union Hall, dancing 3 or 4 nights a week. A definite stop. I think it was $4 to get in, drinks are available and you will get to listen and dance or watch people
dance. There are usually 2 groups at least for about a 4 hour time frame. Got to go and see it. If you are single, there are plently of men and women who are looking to dance. Its a place people go to dance, a little older crowd. Just great.

Unique Quality: The location. The breakfast was great. Staff was friendly and helpful

    Directions: Just off Plaza Tapatia

Dancing in Guadalajara

by melissaz

My friend and I are considering Guadalajara as a destination for about 5 days in March (before heading to PV for 3 days) ...

We are both salsa dancers -- merengue & bachata too -- and I also dance cumbia style. Any places you'd recommend so we can put on our dancing shoes?

Thanks!
Melissa

I will recomend you to places to go dance Salsa. The first is named Copacabana, and is located on Av. Lopez Meteos Norte, Besides TV Azteca. and the other is Caballo negro, that is in the hotel Fiesta americana, in front of Minerva fontain.

Also you can check this page to look for other interested places to visit

This is not a restaurant, this is not a bar. This is the Musicians Union Hall.I don't have an address but the location, its near the Hotel de Mendoza. The Hotel is just off the Plaza Tapatia, on Carranza 16, the Historical Center. As you are facing the Hotel, on your right is a small Church, you need to walk left (remember its as you are facing the Hotel, you go left. Walk about 2 blocks or so, the Hall is located on the same side as the Hotel. They have music there 3 or 4 days a week, bands, groups come in and play for a couple of hours each, you may get to hear 1, 2 or 3 groups. It was very cheap to get in, I think around $4. Drinks were available, people go here to dance, it was not a big drinking place. Everytime the band played something, lots of people were dancing. If you are single, there are plenty of people to dance with. Its opens early around 5 and closes around 9. The dancing was fantastic and you see every style. We had a great time just watching and listening. Worth a stop. Not sure what days they are open, you need to go and check it out. Very safe, good crowd. John
