I'll be flying into Guadalajara to take a bus to Puerto Vallarta. Can anyone describe to me the best way to get to the bus station from the airport? Also, should I reserve a bus ticket in advance?

So if you arrive to guadalajara Airport , You have to take a taxi to the city. (Is the only way to get out of the airport, there no buses or train to the city) it will cost you arround 20 to 30 us dollars straight to the (Brand New, clean and secure) North Bus station. (there is the old bus station but is dangerous to go there alone) I´m not sure about schedules but is dificult to book thoose buses over the internet. But dont worry, from there you will have a bus to every were in mexico every 45 or 60 min.

I think there are some express (kind of) buses from outside the airport to the downtown area... that's what I heard, but I just moved to GDL... si I'm not 100% sure. But since you don't know GDL, I would say the best way is to take a cab straight to the bus station (the new, it's called Central Camionera Nueva).
Ask someone at the airport how much you should pay the cab, and before you take it... arrange the price with the driver, otherwise he'd charge you whatever he wants.
There's a bus company named Elite... they have round tickets to Vallarta for less than $40 (and the bus quality is good).
they have my old time favorite Carrot cake, so far this is the best place for cakes, they have different kinds along with brownies, cookies and biscottis,, wide variety of coffee drinks and chai.. Sandwiches are big and tasty and not expensive at all. great location and good prices, wireless internet ... Avoid Starbucks.. Carrot cake and hot cocoa
Plaza Tapatia another of the many many great people watching spots of Guadalajara
It occupies about 10 block is a huge center of the city People watching paradise and walking areas. One walk starts at the Degollado Theater and the other flanks off Morelos street. The beginning of the Plaza is really the beginning of Guadalajara where it all started in 1542. At the crossing of Morelos and (get this name) Callejón (Corner) of the Devil, is the House that was inhabited by the Conqueror Juan de Saldivar and it was the seat of the Inquisition therefore the Corner of the Devil. There are a wonderful set of five pieces forged in bronze and worked by hand, that represent the inmolación of Quetzalcóatl. But are better know as places the kids play.
I am arriving in GDL the 25th of June and planing on staying through the 28th. Then I am off to Tepic.
I am busing in from PV and will be staying at the Posada Regis.
Looking forward to the Murals, general sightseeing, Tlaquepaque, day trip to Tequila, Mariachi y mucho comida.
