Our stay was in one word increadible. The hotel is a 4 star, with 5 star service. The building is old, but renovated, & always being cleaned. We were so pleased with our trip, that we are saving for another trip on our 2nd anniversary!
Free room service 24 hours a day, great shows every evening, activities every hour to keep busy... They have their own Kayaking, rock climbing (natural) wall, & best of all, a Sea Turtle Sanctuary. In the month of September, the eggs hatch & guests can release them for a small donation to go toward the sanctuary. by cybercutie This was part of the package we bought. The hotel was located in the marina, and it was an all-inclusive resort with nightly entertainment. Now, first of all the problem was we went at the end of June, which is like being in a sauna with a jacket on, especiallyfor us sensitive skinned Canadians...:). We were originally stuck in a room on the 6th floor that looked more like a storage room with one bed and a shower, but the next day we said we wanted to move because we wanted a balcony and we were given this amazing suite on the first floor with a kitchenette. Only problem was neither of the rooms had a/c, and the kitchenette didn't have a fridge. That, along with the fact that the pool was warmer than my bathtub, made for a very uncomfortable visit. The entertainment was amazing, the food was ok (different themes each night), and the staff were very friendly (sometimes too much so). All in all, it was a good place, however I think the weather dampened our spirits somewhat.
Great view of the Marina and all of the boats coming in and out. Theme: HotelComparison: about averageAddress: in the Marina

Hotel Entrance by Srechko This hotel is popular among Mexican tourists and we were the only international guests there. Hotel is clean, well maintained, in a good location, but street noise does not let you sleep long in the morning. Staff is very helpful and friendly. I have to mention however that they do have quiet rooms - it was my fault I choose a room close to the pool (and street noise by the way).
Aside from being so noisy (especially in the morning), hotel's location is excellent, beach is 5 minutes away by walk, closest bus stops are minutes away and there are lots of useful stores in its vicinity (bakery, cafes, restaurants, grocery stores). It takes you around 10 minutes of walk to get to Malecon. Hotel has a small kitchen located outside on the top floor, looked kind of funny, we never used it even to make coffee. Hotel's pool is OK but small - never used it either....Basically this is not a hotel where you hang around to use its facilities - it is more sleep and go out.

GRAND ENTRANCE by travelgourmet Away from the hustle of Puerto Vallarta, and in a bay of it's own, sits the Barcelo La Jolla de Mismaloya Hotel. The grounds are tropical and the feel is of total relaxation. You do not have to leave the grounds to be totally taken care of with water sports, pools, bars and great restaurants, all within walking distance from anywhere on the resort grounds. The beach area is right out of a movie set, with the palm trees and mountain backdrops. The rooms are very spacious and close to the hotels beach. The food is good for a hotel that sits out in the middle of nowhere, but that's where you want to be. In fact, five very good restaurants are on site. Quiet and private.
The view of the Bay of Banderas is right in front of the hotel. Your own private little beach away from all the tourists in Puerto Vallarta. The pool area that is fantastic may keep you from going to the beach. We took the time to walk the beach and we felt as if we were on a private island. by cherylll Very affordable, all-inclusive Family resort.Food is good (a-la-carte is better then the restaurantes) Lots of activities for the whole family, alcohlic drinks are a bit weak, but just ask and they will make them stronger, friendly staff. Clean beach, about 35 min from downtown PV. If possible don't buy anything on the resort...prices are a bit high!
Great nightly entertainment, 4 pools in total (one is adult only) Theme: OtherComparison: about averageAddress: 35 min north of PV, 5 min from Bucerius

I just got back from pv. we stayed here. i had a bad experience here. we were told our room would be beach front suite by our travel agent. when we got there our room was a tiny one bedroom facing traffic, nowhere near facing the beach. when we told the front desk about this the lady told us to talk to manager carlos the next day. when we talked to him he said we could change rooms for an extra 30 dollars a night. we declined. we already spent enough money on our trip. we called our travel agent and she and carlos argued over the phone. neither took the blame. we went back and stayed in our room which was very noisy because of the traffic (all you could hear was traffic all night). i purchased ear plugs and used them for the remainder of the week. the room also had no alarm clock and the a/c sounded like a truck. there was also a lot of construction going on which was quite noisy and 2 of the pools were closed. be forewarned, you might not get what you pay for. oh yeah... bring an alarm clock.
