Tours / excursions - Favorites and NOT so favorites

by bgsnmky

Almost eveything I read everyone loves the excursions they take and the companies.

We will be two adults and 2 teenage boys.

I was curious on what people FAVORITES are and / or which ONES they would NOT do or recommend. I figure both of these should narrow it down.

So far I have looked at three companies:
Vallarta Adventures
Ecotours Vallarata
puerto Vallarta tours

We will probably take 3 or 4 days of tours during our 7 days there.

Also would be interested in Nighttime outtings - fiesta nights, sunste sailing, pirates outing etc that were good and/or bad.

I always use and send amigos to puertovallartatours.net It is a part of pv tours you mention. Ask any of the girls for tours and activities. You can purchase online and print tix or do it locally. My group gets a 10% discount.

Travel Tips for Puerto Vallarta

Get to know the Local Culture

by mjd74

The Huichol Indians are a tribe of people that comes from a city burried in the Sierra Madre mountain chains. They sell a lot of their beaded products in some of the stores that you will find in Purto Vallarta.

MANGOS ! MANGOS! MANGOS!

by mjd74

Did you know that before PV was a major tourist attraction it was known for two things.

The first was for fishing, even today the mercados are flush with various different types of fish and shrimp.

The second was for its mangos when you go into Old Town area look at the HUGE trees that you can see behind some of the shops. Vallarta was a HUGE mango orchard before the tourist explosion.

PV has 4 different types of mangos, so when you go and visit PV please please please go to the local fruit market and try a mango... or two... On the occasional corner there are vendors that sell various fruits and vegetable, I highly recomend visiting them and getting a taste of the local flavor.

In Puerto Vallarta, English is widley spoken....but it is fun to learn new languages if you dont know any, and they really appriciate it if you speak spanish whille you are there.even if you just know your basics

Hola - Hello
Adios - GoodBye
Por Favor - Please
Gracias - Thankyou
De Nada - You are welcome
Si - Yes
No - No
Bano - Bathroom ( very importaint! )
Buenas Dias - Good Day
Buenas Noches - Good Night

Below is a link that can help you with spanish....reading and writing....you just type different sentences into the space provided and translate it into the language of your choice!!!

TIMESHARES

by Skye_Miles

Oftentimes I have the question...are there sharks in Puerto Vallarta? I always answer, only the ones that have two legs and stand in a timeshare booth! If you are interested in purchasing a timeshare, do not fall for the line that the presentation will take an hour or so.....not true! Best to go inside the resort, ask to speak to the timeshare manager and go from there. I am definitely not against timeshare....only the way they hook people to go to the presentations! THERE IS NOTHING FREE IN PUERTO VALLARTA! (Well, except for this guide I guess!).

Scuba & Snorkling Tours to Marietas

by Mindy_J

We went on the Marietas Islands, which is a sanctuary for birds, fish, & correl. It was beautiful, but not as usual for us. Hurricane John had come through a week before out at sea & sent some natural trash toward the island, so visibility was bad for snorkling, but scuba diving was still great at 30 feet and below. Everything is there for you... Just brink a towel to keep you warm & wear your bathing suit there.. Ohh yeah, when a mexican tells you to take Dremamin, you take it, especially when he offers it for free.. that means it will be a bumpy ride! So many people got sick, because they didn't "need" it. Swallow your pride people & take the pill!
