Puerto Vallarta's Most Romantic Resort
by collinsc about Ocho Cascadas
The timeshare resort Ocho Cascadas (Eight Waterfalls in English) is the most romantic getaway in the world. The resort is located in the fashionable Conchas Chinas neighborhood on the southern edge of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It is built into the hillside in a stairway design, allowing each villa to be totally open to the beautiful views of Banderas Bay while maintaining privacy. Each villa has a private pool, which cascades into the pool below.
The gorgeous view consists of the blue-tiled pools below, the cascading Bougainvillea and Copa de Oro (Cup of Gold) flowers everywhere, the red-tile roofs of the Conchas Chinas neighborhood, and the turquoise waters of Banderas Bay.
Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I have included a photo with this review. For many more detailed photos, I suggest that you take a look at our personal website VacationLovers. In the left-hand navigation bar, scroll down to the Puerto Vallart" link, and click on it.
There are two bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed. A fifth person could sleep comfortably on the very large sofa in the living room, and the maids are happy to make it into a bed.
All villas are equipped with a stove, oven, refrigerator, juicer, blender, toaster, coffee pot, sugar, salt and pepper, coffee filters, endless supplies of bottled water and ice (even though the tap water here is pretty good), and receive maid service twice daily (they have to keep sweeping up all the flower petals that rain down from above).
Note: there's no microwave, TV, or radio. We like to bring a CD/MP3 player and small speakers.
The resort has a Welcome Party on Friday evenings. Be sure to attend and meet your neighbors. If you're lucky, the party will be held in the huge two-level penthouse villa. The award-winning architecture is completely open to the expansive view and ocean breezes, and yet sheltered and private. There's your own private pool to relax in, even while still enjoying the view. Each pool cascades into the pool below.

There is a wealth of information on PV online, so I will not bother to attempt to describe this oceanfront paradise. I first came to PV in '72, and it goes without saying that things have changed since then. We all have changed! It is still a wonderful place that mixes sun, sea, and jungle exquisitely.

This pic is taken right around the corner from Carlos O'Briens.
Normally you would see a statue where you see the waves.
this pic was taken from the church located in the main plaza looking into the ocean.
This pic is taken from the south end of Vallarta where the Scala Building is located.
I would even venture to say from the Scala Building to Torre Malibu.
The locals have all told me that by the time they realized that the hurricane had hit it was already gone. From what I was told that it only lasted 30 minutes.
Taken from Conchas Chinas.
Wow, I dont think that this pic needs a caption

Yes, I have been to the property, it is located on the road going towards Mismaloya, it is just a mile or two out of PV town, located on the left. There is a bus stop infront, with a rott iron charir under a tree..it is very near to Conchas Chinas store.
The resort is located up a rather steep hill, you will either walk( bennifit, getting great leg exercise) or take a cab, Unless you are on the top, or perhaps the bottom, there are also a lot of steep steeps with in the resort it's self, just getting from room to room. It is a beautiful property, and there are 8 private pools...I think they are on the 2 bedroom units.
For me, I would love the property more if I were hangin at the resort more, as it is so nice, but the steeps are killers....now it could be that they have put in an elevator by now, however I rather doubt it.
The location is very convenient to town, beaches, restaurants, store. You are not on the water, but you do have a nice view.
Have fun!
