The view of the ocean, and the sunset in the evening is beautiful. They built this rock wall to protect the beach area and people laying on the beach.

Nice !!!
Stayed here for five nights, and had a great time. You have to take the bus into town, but it's only about a five minute ride. Saw some whales swimming in the ocean from my balcony.
Unique Quality: Out standing view of the ocean .

A Good Choice
The staff were very friendly and helpful. This is a great location and a very good Hotel, although I understand it is mostly time share. You are about two miles south of Old Town (55 cents, ten minute bus ride) and about seven miles north of Boca de Tomatlan (55 cents, twenty minute bus ride). The bus stop is right in front of the hotel!
Unique Quality: Every room faced the ocean. We saw a group of four to five whales from our balcony the first day there. They created their own breakwater that is a good snorkling or swimming area.

First timer... Where to stay?
Hello... It's our first time going to Puerto Vallarta and we're trying to decide between Villa del Palmar and Playa Del Sol Costa Sur. Any suggestions??? Also.. I've looked about everywhere and can't find any flights for less than 550 coming from NJ/NY... any suggestions with that as well? Thank you!!

I believe that Playa Del Sol Costa Sur is the Former Costa Vida. If it is, then I highly recommend it. No worries about the water as PV has the best filtration systems and We have never had a problem. The Costa Vida (Sur) is located nicely outside of old PV towards Mismiloya Beach. (5 minute busride to town). Never stayed at Villa Del Palmar so cannot comment. Good Luck and have Fun.
