Use pesos for everything
by monica71
One of the first things you learn when visiting Mexico is that you can stretch your dollar even more if you pay everything in Mexican pesos instead of US dollars. Try to negotiate your hotel room price in pesos instead of US dollars.
Even when you buy stuff you will get a much better price if you negotiate everything in pesos instead of US dollars. In Puerto Vallarta there are plenty of places where you can exchange US dollars for Mexican pesos at a good rate, so go for it and don't even think twice about paying in US dollars.
Internet Cafes are easy to find
by monica71
Before going to Puerto Vallarta I was concerned it would be hard to find an Internet Cafe in town. Boy, was I wrong! The town is full of Internet Cafes. In fact, I do not recall of visiting another place with such an abundance of Internet Cafes. One thing that Puerto Vallarta is not short on for sure are Internet Cafes, Restaurants and Shopping Booths!
The prices are more than reasonable and the Internet connection is very good.
Just relaxing and enjoying the moment
by Carmanah
We had 2 weeks booked at our hotel, and while most days we went abroad and explored the nearby towns, some days we just wanted to relax at the poolside. One of my fondest memories was drinking one of those huge fruit drinks served in a pineapple with hibiscus flowers. It was divine! Believe me, you don't usually get drinks like this at home!
Enjoy the beautiful sunsets!!!

I must admit that I had a great time in Puerto Vallarta. The weather was great, the food was delicious, the people were very nice, and I was able to get lots of rest. Sunset scenes over the Bahia de Banderas put you into that laid back mood which carries on throughout your holiday as well as when you get back home. Oh So nice!!!
Pack light

Bring a backpack! Puerto Vallarta has lots of outdoor activities and you will need sunblock, insect repellent, cameras, towels, etc. Much easier if you have a small backback or handbag. Sandals for the beach, also comfortable shoes for activities that involve walking/hiking. Insect repellent is a must. Also lots of sunblock and aloe. If you go in the summer, like we did, don't pack anything with sleeves or any long pants. Most of the time will be spent wearing only shorts or a bathing suit due to the opressive heat.
