New Info Booth Olas Altas

by mepv22

Has anybody checked out the new info booth on the corner of olas altas and Francisco Rodriguez they have a book exchange free calls to the us and Canada the couple that work there are very nice and helpful. It use to be a timeshare booth with scary people.

Re: New Info Booth Olas Altas

I don't understand this question, which you apparently joined VT just today to ask! Has anyone checked this "info booth" out for what, exactly? It sounds as though you are just trying to announce that there is a book exchange etc. at a specific location, if so it should be a tip on your travel page, not in the forum. What is the relevance (to someone who is visiting and could not know what was there before) of the information about what it used to be and who used to run it? Unless perhaps you are in fact a member of the "couple that work there (who) are very nice and helpful"...
If so, the advice is hardly unbiased, and this forum is for travel-related questions, I don't see one.

Travel Tips for Puerto Vallarta

Sand art in downtown PV

by amambaw

When we visited downtown PV to go shopping, we happened upon some sand art that the locals were doing at one of the downtown beaches. For some this might not seem to spectacular, but there isn't much in the way of sand where I come from, so it was pretty neat to see!

Wanna live in Vallarta???

by mjd74

Has the thought of living in PV or any other part of the world ever cross your mind? It did mine but the second question that I had to ask myself... how can I make it happen.

I then met an amazing friend named Chris Zang. He has a school that certifies people to teach English in foreign countries all over the world.

This guy has done more for the poor and handicapped of PV than anyone that I had ever come across in my 2.5 yrs living there.

I would never post this unless I had 100% confidence in him and his program (which actually teaches the local kids English free of charge). go to

How to handle Beach vendors?

by Srechko

This was on my mind every day. I completely symphatize with these people, however they didn't symphatize with me and my desire to relax and sometimes sleep on the beach. They come and go every 2-3 minutes on the average day and regardless whether your eyes are closed or not, they stop and talk to you - most of them wait until you say "No gracias".

I guess the easiest way out was to leave downtown beach and go to a private one of some hotel.

Medical Services

by Skye_Miles

Hopefully you will not need any! But, it is good to know that there are some excellent, English speaking doctors here. There is a brand new hospital here in Vallarta, San Javier and really is as nice or nicer than any I have seen in the US. Located across the street from the terminal marina.

luggage/extra space for souvenirs to take home

by susiemargare

SOFT and large if going by plane. i try to take two by putting one empty one inside the other; that way, i have one to put stuff in when it is time to go home. with only one suitcase for about three days of clothes, you can manage and just wash stuff out. the airlines do crack down on number of suitcases when the planes are full.
