Expensive but beautiful

Good food but overpriced, at the many restaurants and poolside bars. Beautiful pools nestled among hundreds of palm trees - but there is a LOT of shade due to the trees!
h flowers
Pay extra - $7/day - to visit the gym. Great facility, but why pay more??

Nikki Beach is a great day spot - but you must spend money through drinks/food. Worth it to have your own beach "bed" or semi-shaded seating area.

The hotel common areas are fantastic, really what you love to see for an authentic mexican breezeway area in a hotel! The art contributes to the feel, as do the fresh flowers, flavored waters in the waiting area, and music wafting up from the beachside pools. The cascading waters in the front of the hotel mimic the inside waterfalls as well, all contributing to the restful and relaxing atmosphere.

Skip the spa treatments at the Westin - the pricing is exorbitant for Mexico! Instead, walk out of the resort, left past the neighboring hotel/resort, and into the Pacifica's free-standing spa. The prices are great, facitilies are clean if spare, and the treatments are incredible!! Everyone I met up with at the Westin was utilizing this spa, and we went nearly every day of our 7 day trip!

Unique Quality: Across the street from the marina - where there are so many restaurants and shops.

Pay the extra and join the "beach club" concierge level. This is a set of rooms on the 12th floor, with special access keys, where you can have a full service breakfast for all in your room, as well as a happy hour with all you can drink cocktails/beer as well as heavy appetizers. The food is great, the service is attentive (they remember you) and the views are spectacular.

The pool service waiters were great, and when my hubby got sick, (the flu - not from the water!) they coordinated a fruit basket/card from the manager, and a visit from the doctor to make our stay better! Really personal service!

Beautiful!

I stayed here during my college's spring break. This is an upscale, beautiful hotel with gorgeous pools and supposedly was voted one of the most romantic hotels in Mexico! Tropical colors throughout, good food at the restaurant- especially the breakfast and dinner buffets.

Unique Quality: Situated on an old plantation, the grounds retain the original palm trees, and they have been cemented into pools and all around the hotel property. Quite a site!

Relax

Great room. Great view. Great service. Great pool. Beautiful. Quiet, comfortable. Ok beach for the area.

Recomend upper floor ocean view.

Food not so good and overpriced. Short walk to Marina, good food and good prices. There is a deli right across the street where you can purchase a cooler, some pop, beer and munchies for good prices. You can buy your coffee there and brew it in your room and save a load of $.

As for the towels, I only used the ones from the hotel when I was at the hotel. I brought my own towel for off premisses uses. If you don't want to bring your own towel from home, make a quick stop at the local Wal-mart buy a towel, your other food and drink needs, use it and then leave it for the maid when you leave.

Yes I would recomend this hotel. The only small draw back is that it is quite away from old down town where I spent a great deal of time so it got kind of old having to take the taxi all the time if you want to go any distance, but the taxi is cheap and always an adventure. Had no interest in trying the buss but it goes right by the hotel.

Had no problem with timeshare on the hotel premises.

Yeah they have the vendors on the beach, a smile and a wave while shaking your head no they go away.

Unique Quality: The view of down town, watching the boats go in and out of the marina and the pool and grounds are outstanding.

More about Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta

amazing vacation spot

by A TripAdvisor Member

We had an amazing vacation! The hotel is great with its 4 pools. Only one of the 4 pools was heated which is not good since the weather in P.V. is not extremely warm. One of the pools has ongoing entertainment (organized games, an amazing clown show, competitions, etc.) My kids and my husband and myself absolutely loved the clown and the rest of the entertainment staff. The fun really begins when the hotel gets more crowded, so I would definitely recommend going during their highest seasons. The food is very good, the beach is okay, the rooms are very nice. If you're not interested in timeshare stuff, there is no issue, you just don't even approach the "information desk." There are really fun things to do in P.V. outside of the hotel - lots of great excursions and the concierge was helpful. The organized kids program is nothing to write home about, but there is plenty of fun to be had if you're willing to spend time with your kids by the pool and if they make friends easily. Mostly everyone was American. The hotel is great.

Just came back - recommend highly

My wife and I just got back from the Westin Regina. I highly recommend it and would go back in a heart beat. The facilities are beautiful, especially the pool areas.

I do agree with some other postings about the prices being overpriced for the restaurants but you can walk to the nearby marina and easily get good food for reasonable prices. We had to request an iron and ironing board for our room but it arrived promptly. I also agree that a Westin Regina should not charge you for the coffee in your rooms. Also, the time share people from the neighboring property were very aggressive but not at the Westin Regina.

These are small complaints when contrasted with the nice experience we had. We found the housekeeping staff very friendly and our room was very clean.

Overall, a very nice experience in a beautiful facility.

Great Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member Kieviet

The Hotel was advertised. Upscale, which the food and beverage prices reflected. Ocean View Room was great and had a lovely view from the balconey. Heavenly Bed was heavenly -- but it was two double beds. Since my husband & I prefer to sleep in the same bed, it was a little snug. Hotel personnel were service oriented and gladly helped with anything we needed. Three huge pools are beautiful and it helps that one of them is shallow so the kids stayed in that one for the most part and the adults could gather at the other pools. The highlight of our trip was "The Rhythms Of The Night". It was the most romantic evening we have ever spent together. The crew on the boat trip to the island were terrific -- kept us entertained the whole way there and back. The island was aglow with torches. Don't have the words to explain the sight. Had our own 2-person table on the beach for dinner with a very attentive waiter. Buffet was good (for a buffet). The show was awsome. All-in-all, a perfect evening. It's worth more than the $70/person we paid -- includes everything - food, drinks (and not the cheap stuff either), trip. A definite "must see, must do".

Very nice hotel

I stayed at the Westin from Dec 18-25.It is a very nice hotel, great pools, nice beach, good service. The room was great, so was the balcony. Bed was perfect!A couple of minor problems:a) Sometimes at 11:00 at night you can still here a near by night club.b) Time share is a pain but if you tell them you've lived in the US for less than 2 years, the'll leave you alone. The marina is near by, with lots of resteraunts. In short, I'd highly recommend the hotel for a relaxing week.John

Stayed at 3, this was the best

by A TripAdvisor Member

This hotel is just plain awesome. Do yourself a favor and stay here for at least a few nights while your there. the room and the pools are head and shoulders above the others in the area. the Beach was nice but not near as nice as the Beaches in Nuevo Vallarta...Bottom line I would HIGHLY reccomend this resort if your not looking for a young rowdy crowd or all inclusive. It was perfect for our honeymoon.cheers,Gino and Heather

Wonderful hotel, beautiful pool and great service

by A TripAdvisor Member

This resort was wonderful from the minute you walk into the lobby.
Lovely view from all rooms of the huge pools and palms all over the property. Just laying out at their pools was so peaceful and felt just like you would imagine to feel while on vacation. It is just a short walk to the Marina for lots of shops and restaurants. Puerto Vallarta was wonderful and I would definetly recommend the Canopy tour w/ Vallarta Adventures -- lots of fun and the service could not have been better. Just another reason we love staying at Westin properties. Have not had a bad experience yet.
