Porochi Inn: Remote rim of Urique Canyon

This facility is remote and may be one of only a handful available in a 2 or 3 or 4 hour radius - we booked thru an organized tour company, Canyon Travel out of Texas. Maybe you can find this place without a tour group, but not sure. Their facilities are built on the owner's property with their family home across from the dining hall/kitchen building, then several other lodge-buildings house the guest rooms. They may have at least 10 rooms available; we were in a building with 3 rooms in a row; they were fairly newly renovated with elaborate paintings of local scenes, people and birds on the walls. Some of the windows include decorative glass bottles cemented into the walls as windows.
I recommend this to anyone with a sense of adventure; it certainly is not a 5 star facility and does not come with American standards but rather is suited to those who can handle the casual Mexican hospitality.
