Posada El Jazmin: A cute small guest house

We arrived here following a recommendation and I must say it was just a place to spend the night before going to see the butterflies, nothing fancy or spectacular, but then again Angangueo is a very small village and we couldn't expect to find a Hilton-like hotel either LOL.....

We paid more for a room here than we did at Morelia, even though the owner reduced the room price because it was only 2 of us (the room could sleep up to 4 people and had a private bathroom, like the rest of the rooms at the pension). However, the price of the room is pretty decent if there's an entire family staying there... there are rooms that can sleep up to 8 people and only cost MXP $650 (about USD $50) per night. The guest house is not close to downtown, it's small (it has 4-5 big rooms and a mid-size dining room) and the price of the room only includes the lodging -- the lady is very kind and more than willing to cook simple meals for you, mainly for supper and breakfast, but you have to pay extra for it. There are no places to eat nearby, so if you don't eat here you have to go all the way to downtown.

The lady provided towels and said we could have hot water anytime we wanted. She even asked what time we would be departing the morning after so she'd turn the heater on early and thus make sure we would have enough water to take a hot shower. However, my man said that he ran out of hot water very quickly, so I skipped the shower myself as the weather was very cold LOL. Also, the bathroom was a bit smelly even though it was clean - maybe because some of the water in this area has sulphur in it - and it was too small: the shower head was right above the WC (so the WC and the shower were within the same space) so it was rather uncomfortable and unsuitable to take a shower here. However, the bathrooms in other rooms were bigger and more comfortable.

Also, most of the rooms do not have a street view, so they aren't well illuminated. Ours only had a small window that faced the inner corridor and the curtain was really thin so anyone could easily look through it and see the inside of our room, which of course isn't nice. And yet there was little / zero natural light coming in through the window, so we had to keep the lights on at all times (even at night, because the room was totally dark and you could easily fall down or bump into something as there was no external light to guide you to the closest light switch).

Unique Quality: In spite of the inconveniences, it was a good place to sleep and we were thankful for it especially because we were stuck in this town and the guest house was decent enough to spend the night. The lady was really nice and kind and offered all kind of information (and liked to chat a lot too, but she only speaks spanish). She sells some cute & economic souvenirs (see the picture, that's the one I liked the most so I bought it) and will give you some complimentary leaflets too which list the attractions of this area of the state and have some useful maps.

All rooms have a bathroom, hot water available, cable TV, and enough blankets and covers to sleep comfortably even in this place which is REALLY cold. Even though there were other guests at the house, the place isn't noisy and our stay was acceptable overall.
