Now, I am not 'flush', so I did not have the opportunity to stay here. But you can. Prices begin at $190 US for midweek ($220 for weekend) and go up from there.
This is an expensive place to stay for Mexico, let alone Cuernavaca. It's rooms are luxury emphasized. If you are flush, then go for it. The garden views are magnificent. The world rushes about outside, but you are cocooned within the hotel walls oblivious. My wife and I stayed at this hotel over Thanksgiving, 2005. We found the accomodations
adequate (nothing luxurious, but then again we were only in the room to take a nap or to sleep). Prices were on a level per room with an American Holiday Inn. Food in the restuarant was on a par (price-wise) to the upscale resturants downtown. The breakfast buffet was sumptuous and offered a wide variety of choices. Quality of the food was excellent and we ate there every morning and two evenings over 4 days. The staff was friendly and attentive and tried to be helpful in every way. Of course, we treated the staff with the utmost coutesy and respect and the one or two times service seemed slow, I alwys brought this to their attention in a friendly, non-threatening manner, and the problem was ----poof!!!---solved right away. I am especially grateful to the bartender and waiter who gave me instant forgiveness the morning I put away half a bottle of Mescal and had to be helped to my room (much to my wife's embarassment). The staff also (in a friendly and non-threatening manner) convinced me it was in my interest to stick with Jack Daniels from that day on. As far as proximity to downtown attractions, this hotel is ideally suited in a quiet neighborhood, just 10 minutes from the center of Cuernavaca. My wife and I are considering retirement in Cuernavaca, and this is where we plan to stay on future exploratory trips into the area.

The Camino Real Sumiya is a hotel built on the extensive grounds of a former residence from Barbara Hutton. Surrounded by a Japanese style garden impeccably manicured, it is a popular destination for upper-class Mexicans who come there for a weekend break or their wedding party.
Compared to other Cuernavaca hotels, the Sumiya is a little bit out of the way - Pesos $70 / 20 mins. by taxi from/to the city center - but this brings a quiet and relaxed atmosphere.
The hotel's swimming pool has a wonderful quality of water, slightly heated. It is a nice place to suntan and swim a little to exercise those muscles that are asleep all week long. Leave a Comment

I stayed 2 nights in this hotel. It is very simple and satisfactory if you are not looking for much. I had a tiny room and shared bathroom that was old and not the cleanest. Still was not that bad after I compared with what was being offered in the neighbourhood.
Funny thing is, as Cuernavaca is a very neat and calm town, the only prostitutes I saw were stationed right in front of this hotel ...

The perfect location in downtown Cuernavaca and a reasonable price compared to most 4 star and above Cuernavaca hotels.
Swimming pool, restaurant and pretty gardens. Some rooms have fireplaces. Walk out the front door and be right by the important Cuernavaca sights.

This house was located within walking distance of the main square, Castillo de Cortes and the bus station.
Houses like this one rent for about $200 a night. Considering that 8 people slept here I'd say it was a great deal when compared to a traditional hotel.
