Hi! I just moved to Monterrey and I would like to learn Spanish. But I do not want to go to those (quite expensive) language schools they have over here (berlitz etc). Does anybody know a good and affordable Spanish teacher?? I really appreciate your help!

Go to the TEC de Monterrey Univ. campus. go to language department, see buliten board, may find affordable assistance there.

Visit as many of the museums this town has to offer as you can. There is so much incredible history and culture that has been captivated. What I miss the most, of course, is my husband. He is such an interesting man, and knows so much about Monterrey, it would be hard for me to even think about it without automatically including him! But we have gone to some wonderful restaurants!
mmm well the Regiomontanos (monterrey people) are kind of special, but as a tourist they´ll treat you right, about tips here in México we´re used to give the 10% of the bill.
Be careful with taxi drivers they always are trying to charge you more!
All around Monterrey you see these humongous housing developments going up (on your way to Grutas de Garcia, for example). There are hundreds, maybe thousands, in each one- instant cities!
All are quite similar in design and sort of jam packed together. It just shows the tremendous growth in urban areas of Mexico.
To explore Mexico simply take an autobus to go everywhere. Cost are cheap and is pretty safe to visit many states around Monterrey. I think companys as Futura, Transportes del Norte or Omnibus de Mexico are some of the best, even 1st class is not too expensive for most foreing people.
Ok This restaurant is 30 Km away from Monterrey, in El Alamo town, but you must to be there!!! every body know it. These restaurant is plenty of history, since beginings of 1900. Ask for the history of the black bear, the UFOs around this hat, and other tales.
I think is the unique Mexican Hat shape restaurant in Mexico Regional cuisine: Machacado con huevo (egg and dry meat), Menudo (I dont know how to tell you but is great)
