Upcoming Trip and Lots of Questions...PLEASE HELP!

by sinderella75

In a few weeks my husband will be arriving in Laredo by plane, crossing the border and then taking a bus to Monterrey, where he will spend the night and then go to Mexico City via plane. I have a couple questions and would greatly appreciate any help you can provide:

1. Where is the bus station just on the other side of the border from Laredo? Can he cross the border and then take a taxi to the bus station?
2. What bus lines are recommended, what is the cost and how long does it take to get to Monterrey?
3. How far is the airport from the Monterrey bus station? Will he have any trouble getting a taxi late at night to a hotel near the airport?
4. Any recommendations on hotels near the airport...clean but inexpensive? Do most hotels near by have shuttles to the airport?
5. Lastly, how early before his flight should he arrive at the airport? He is an American traveling from Monterrey to Mexico City and then Cancun via AeroMexico. Will it take long to get through security?

I know these are a lot of questions, but your answers will really help us plan accordingly. Thanks so much!

I hope this help.

1. There is NO Bus station near the bridge, you need to take a Taxi to the bus station inside the city is a 20 min ride.
2. From the bus station to Monterrey you have several option but i recommend
1st class service.
- Transportes del Norte by grupo SENDA
The travel time is 3 hrs and the cost is like $180 pesos (15 USD)
3. From the Bus Station in MTY to the airport is like 40 min (sorry dont know the cost)
4. Thers some hotels near the airport, better make a search so you can choose one you like, Hampton inn, Holiday Inn, IBIs, etc etc. and yes most have shuttle to the airport.
5. In Domestic fligths you need to be 2 HRS before your fligth.

The security is the same than in the US.

It's better to pay for the taxi inside the bus terminal. They have fixed rates to the airport, and late at night is more secure.

This is a good and cheap hotel near the airport.

by John195123 about Barrio Antiguo

Barrio Antiguo is full of nightclubs, live music, bars... it's a great place to see and be seen, if that's your thing. It's also a great place to listen to local bands and performers. Dress respectably, especially if you're traveling... and don't drink too much. That's my fatherly advice.

Greasy baby goat anyone?

by John195123 about El Rey Del Cabrito

This is a local delicacy and a must-eat if you come to Monterrey, and at El Rey, they are well known for the quality of food. It's a nice, familiy-friendly atmosphere inside. Cabrito isn't the only thing on the menu, but it's the reason to go there. So, enjoy!

Bioparque Estrella Zoo

by lucyguajardo

In Monterrey you can find two interesting Zoo. One is in the City, named Parque La Pastora.

The other named Bioparque Estrella is outside the city, but it have a lot of animals out of gates.
In Bioparque Estrella you take like a bus and the bus rides you all around the park to let you see the differents animals running over there!!!!

Some times the animals walk to the bus so you can touch and feed them
