Monterrey Quinta Real: Great Hotel - Dont Miss It!
Satisfaction:

I stayed in the Quinta Real for 2 weeks in October 2006. I had previously stayed at the Intercontinental (boring 4/5 star business hotel) and the Hilton Garden Hotel (OK but a long way from the downtown area). I travel a lot for business and pleasure and I always try and look for hotels that are a little unusual with something of the local character of the country I am visiting. The Quinta Real is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is visiting this great city.
The hotel is located opposite a very large shopping centre about 5 kilometres from the old down town area. The style of the hotel is very ‘grand Mexican’ with plenty of high ceilings, large paintings (including the ceilings!) and wall panelling. The restaurant is wonderful and the bar is beautiful (they had some great musicians playing when I was there). The staff could not do enough for me during my stay and nothing was too much trouble. I was upgraded to a slightly bigger room than I had booked (overlooking the central courtyard) – it was wonderfully opulent: large king bed, elegant bathroom, all usual hotel conveniences. I can thoroughly recommend this hotel. It is a little expensive but if your budget stretches to a 5 star hotel, this is the best one by far in Monterrey. FYI – if Spanish is not your strong point, all the staff spoke some English.
