A great place to stay in Oaxaca
My husband and I stayed at the Hostal Pochon in what turned out to be the very best of circumstances. We had the upstairs suite with our own balcony and loads of space. From the minute of our arrival to our leaving the staff was very helpful, warm and courteous. We are an older couple so that meant we had lots of requests from maps to computer help to wake up calls, etc. They all helped us in English as well.
Breakfast was very good; water always available; atmosphere comfortable and welcoming. After this lovely stay was over and we were back home we discovered that we had left things behind. And they kept them safely for us.
We cannot recommend this hostel highly enough. It was great from all points of view.

Hostal pochon private room
private room with own bathroom. a bedroom sideroom bathroom and balcony.
the hostal has a kitchen were you can cook and put food and drinks in.
when i arrived there were dogs inside the hostal think they are from the owner so if you dont like dogs or am allergic first contact the hostal.

deposit key 20 pesos did not get the deposit back but i was in a rush.
2 things i didnot like. the door couldnot be locked when i was inside the room. (did put a chair for it) they knew and dinot fix it did get answer that you could trust the people here. see pic.
and there where some insects (cokroach?) in the sideroom they did something about that.
think they come from the balcony or bathroom.
1 other thing if there is no hot water the thing they need to fix is above this room.
Unique Quality: Nice atmosphere,you can fill your bottle with purified water for 5 pesos. You can get your laundry done for 12 pesos a kilo minimum 3 kilo.did get my sweater a day later because they washed it separtly.
after you checkout you can still use the facilities for 20 pesosshowe interet and leave your stuff in the office.

A very nice hostel in Oaxaca de Juarez
This hostel is built almost like a little hacienda, the rooms are put in a half circle around the dining area. It is by far the cleanest hostel I have ever visited and it is constantly taken care of by great friendly easy goiog people. Even the bed gets made each day! Each room has a key, as well as the frontdoor. Its also a short walk away from the zocalo and pretty close to the ADO bus station.
Unique Quality: Theres a wi-fi connection and a computer, mountainbikes are available for rent to take one of the trails around the close mountains.
