I always love staying at the Blue Bay in Cancun and have gone there almost every year since 1998. It's a lot more quiet than the other resorts and is about a 15 or 20 minute drive away from the hotel zone. It's not the place for hard partiers, but for those with children or just those who would like a calmer stay. It's a close walk close to Puerto Juarez, so for 2 or 3 dollars you can take the ferry to Isla Mujeres.
The beach isn't the prettiest I've ever seen, and can be a little rough on the knees for beach volleyball. But it's not bad either.
The staff at the Blue Bay are great, but have changed almost completely in the last few years. Ivan, DJ Charlie, and Marisol (in the sitting room) have been great to me every trip.
The building itself feels like a giant hacienda, and it's very comfotable. The food is delicious and I miss the burgers and salsa whenever I get back home.
The Blue Bay Club shares facilities with the Blue Bay Getaway, so you can take their free bus over there during the day or night whenever you want a wilder time (adults only). And then come back later to the tranquility of the Club.
Smaller pool but directly on the beach, it will take you less than a minute from your room to the ocean.

The Moon Palace in Cancun was the nicest resort I have ever stayed. I completely fell in love with the resort from the moment I saw it. The drive up into the resort is beautiful. When you pull up into the oval entrance you feel like you are some Hollywood star being greeted by excellent service. They opened our doors for us. They carried our luggage to the room without us even having to lift a single finger. The lobby of the resort was beautiful with an enormous walk up bar, and shops and restaurants all around. As we were checking in, we even got drinks from a mini bar next to the check in desk. The room was really nice. We had a jacuzzi in the main part of the room, with our own mini bar. We had two standard beds, a walk in shower, and a nice sized patio with a view of the ocean outside. There were 7 or so restaurants on the resort, and I will describe those in great detail on my other pages. The service was 6 star. Yes I know that doesn't exist, but if it did, that is how nice the service was. Everyone was real kind and waited on us hand and foot. The pool is supposed to be the largest pool in Cancun, with about 8 different sections that all connect. There is a second pool on the other end of the resort as well. In the pool there are swim up bars in which you can relax in the water while enjoying a good ole mexican "ticket to fly" also known as a Listo para bular. It is a mango flavored alcoholic drink with vodka. Besides the pools, there was a Jack Nicholas designed golf course that was just to die for. I enjoyed 18 good holes and had lots to drink as I just wacked away endlessly hoping the ball would move just a few inches. It's a great place!!!!!!!!!! Very nice and I would recommend it but there are some facts I want to point out. It's about 15/20 miles south of Cancun and is isolated somewhat. So unlike staying in Cancun, you can not just walk to eating places, stores, and bars. You must take a taxi or the resort bus, which will drop you off at the Beach Palace in Cancun. The bus trip doesn't cost anything, its a free servive offered by the Palace Resorts so it's not hard to get into town, but wanted to mention that.
The moon Palace is really 2 resorts owned by the same company and they are right next to each other, which gives you more choises for events, swimming pools..etc.

I really enjoyed the breakfasts here. The staff greeted us with a big smile and after two weeks got to know us pretty good. Hans was "El Capitan" .
The buffet had all those tropical fruits like pineapple, papaya, grapefruit, cantaloupe. You could also have apples, bananas, pears and yogurt.
Hot items included a potato, meat (sausage, ham or bacon) refried beans.
The cook can serve you up an omelet, pancakes or eggs anyway you like.
