On The Beach

Located on the beach. Beautiful views and good restaurants. Staff are a bit snobby and unimpressed. It was part of a time share so I can't give you the actual price per night. Rooms are clean and spacious. The have phones and a TV in the room. There is a money exchange in the lobby that has good rates. There is also a small convience store located downstairs and a travel desk to book day trips. They have activities during the day and night excursions.

Unique Quality: Beautiful views, a pool and a poolside restaurant.

More about Casa Maya Cancun

Loved the Casa Maya

by A TripAdvisor Member

We visited the Casa Maya recently and loved every second of it. The service was the best we've ever experienced. Lois by the pool gave us positively the best service everyday that we were there. I read mixed reviews about the Casa Maya before our trip. We without a doubt will visit Cancun again. And we will without a doubt stay at the Casa Maya.
No complaints at all!!!!!!

Love Casa Maya

We have been going to Casa Maya for about 8 years and have always had excellent service. The staff is very accomadating to our every need. It is a great place to vacation for a family. We have taken our grandchildren there. I don't know where the people stayed that had such bad experiences, but it must not have been Casa Maya. The food is excellent and the remodeled rooms are great.

Hotel Casa Maya

This is a beautiful five stars hotel in a great location in Cancún, because it is just 10 minutes from downtown and is in one of the most fantastic beaches.
The service is really good, the hotel has comfortable rooms with view to the Caribbean sea. It has swimming pool, jacuzzi, many activities like aquaerobics, volley ball, contest, restaurant, snak bar, internet, minimarket, tennis area.

We stayed at a place called the Casa Maya! The rooms were huge, clean, and provided a wonderful view of the Island
$500 for the week! This was a great deal!

Warning

by A TripAdvisor Member

We spent one week with our European friends at Casa Maya Cancun. Not only they first gave us horrible accomodation in unrenovated part of the building, also it was dirty and the "sandy beach" they advertise is a joke. All the time we were chased by sales people who pushed us into timeshare presentation. First thing they asked for was our credit card imprint "to be kept in their file". Worst experience came after we returned back and our European friends informed us that there was a huge credit card fraud on their credit card. Shortly after that, we found out that the same thing happened to us. Both our friends and ourselves got our credit cards maxed out. Ridiculous is that those cards were used by both of us ONLY at Casa Maya, so the conclusion is, that somebody there duplicated our credit cards. I has been a nightmare for us to deal with the bank and we feel we need to share this information with everybody who plans to stay in that establishement. Be careful!

Amazing!

by A TripAdvisor Member

Me and three of my closest friends stayed at the Casa Maya Resort during the summer of 2003 for our senior trip. It was absolutely amazing! We couldn't have asked for anything better. The rooms were incredible and the staff was very hospitable! Especially George who works in the lobby at the activities desk. He helped us out a lot and we wont every forget him! The beach at the resort is to die for! Our trip to Cancun was the best trip of our entire lives and staying at Casa Maya was a big part of that!

Best family property in Cancun!

by A TripAdvisor Member

It is interesting to read the varied opinions about this resort. I am sorry to hear about the terrible incident one couple faced with a local. That incident is more a reflection of Cancun and not the Casa Maya. We love the Casa Maya because it is so quiet and relaxed. The rooms are newly renovated and are almost 100% finished. Perfect for families with children. We were not pressured into the timeshare presentation but did go and listen. The restaurants are expensive but this is relative as everything in Cancun is expensive. Go to a local supermarket and buy groceries for your room. Even the studio has a refrigerator to keep cold cuts, cheese, etc. If you are looking for a Ritz carlton atmosphere then you should go to the Ritz (and pay 4 times the amount for a room). We rented from an owner and received a great deal for the 2 bedroom unit. I would definitely recommend for families!

Gentle beach

I'm not sure where the people on the last review stayed, but I don't think it was the Casa Maya. We just returned from a week there. Had a room that wasn't updated, but it was spotless and the view from our bed was fantastic. We received clean sheets everyday and a clean bedspread on Weds. The beach is wonderful here and they raked it every morning.
The best part is that they have over 30 palapas and plenty of lounge chairs so you can be in the shade all day long if you want. Snorkeled several times and saw starfish, squid, and cow fish.

Far better than some reviews led me to believe!!!

by A TripAdvisor Member

Hving read some of the poorer reviews of the Casa Maya it was with some trepidation that we went there (having already arranged a time-share swap through RCI. However we were most pleasantly surprised - the rooms were large, well-furnished and immaculately clean, the staff very friendly and helpful and the food good (though expensive). We attended a timeshare presentation (about 60 mins), receiving a super buffet breakfast and a free trip for our trouble. We declined to buy but noticed no decline in service after doing so! The beach and pool areas are good and the daytime entertainment continuous around the pool area.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to all but the most pernickity!

Cancun suggestions

by jpl3

Will be going to Cancun for a week, early April. Staying at the Casa Maya hotel. Stayed there a few years ago, and went to Chichen Itza, Tulum, and Isla Mujeres.

Places change. So, I am interested in updates from anyone who has been to Cancun recently or lives there - about what to expect now in Cancun. What would you recommend, as far as what to see and do, including day trips? What is the reality now for safety and security? Generally familiar with travel in Mexico, and remember some about what Cancun is like, but any updates and advice is welcome.

Thank you.
John

See my pages on Puerto Morelos and places we visited.
Coba is nice alternative to Chichen Itza as is more "real"
Puerto Morelos has great snorkeling and small restaurants. It is a pleasure to lounge on the square at night and observe local life.
