mexico cell phone rental
by burrsharon
Anyone looking to rent a cell phone for their trip to Mexico, I highly recommend getting one from Mexitel through Ebay. The process is so simple. You pay $35 for the phone plus a small shipping fee and a deposit for the phone. Minutes are purchased separately at a very low cost. When you return from your trip you simply return the phone in the prepaid postage envelope and they issue credit to your credit card for the deposit. I used the phone extensively for a week with only rwo dropped calls. Customer service is extremely helpful in gettin you started if you need them.
Beautiful Beaches
by Amareyui
It is totally understandable why so much foreign money has been pumped to Cancun; its surrounding beaches are so beautiful. While the sight of roads and resorts, and other assortment of buildings, have caused the setting to lose some of its charm, the white sand and blue-turquoise water, especially before dawn when there is nobody else around, is still captivating. Swimming in the ocean is not just an exercise, it is an enjoyment. After a swim in the ocean, any pool becomes less desirable.
Go to some of the Mayan ruins...
by alohabrendon
Go to some of the Mayan ruins (Chichen Itza, Tulum, etc.) and/or some of the ecological parks (Xcaret). Chichen Itza is about 2 1/2 hours from Cancun and is in the center of the forest, so expect some heat. I went to Tulum (which is on the coast) and loved it. Our tour guide was a professor in a Mexican University and was very knowledgeable about the Maya and their culture. Below is a picture from Tulum. The water! Cancun/Cozumel have some of the warmest and clearest ocean water I have come across. Tons of marine life. Also, I miss the free flowing tequila!
beach

The Caribbean side of the Hotel Zone is justly famous for gorgeous white-sand beaches, but the east-facing beaches aren't necessarily the best places to swim-the surf can pound mercilessly and the undertow can be treacherous. Swim only where you can see the water-safety pennant system: A white flag means the swimming is excellent, green signifies good or normal conditions, yellow means you should use caution, and black or red means conditions are unsafe. If you don't know what the water conditions are, don't swim.
....and gradually move the ceremony to the beach
by Geisha_Girl
Halfway through the ceremony, the couple decided to move it down right near the ocean. It definitely added more romance to the event.......but it also got rid of the infestation of mosquitos that came UNINVITED !!!!
