Cost of Taxi

by wharfrock

Good Day All,

I was wondering if anyone is aware of the cost of engaging the services of a taxi for the day. Last time we were in Cancun, which was 2006, we hired a taxi for the day to take us to Tulum. We explored many places along the way and when we returned we were given a little tour around the city. The driver picked us up at about 8:00 am and returned us to the resort at about 6:30 pm. He spoke good english and being the chatter box that I am, we learned so much about local customs and the culture of the area. We do not speak any Spanish so we are apprehensive about venturing out on our own in a reated car.

Thanks for your help.

David

Gee!!! I wish I could say more on about your comment!

I am trying to remember the cost of gas, plus how much a driver makes per day so he can make it for a day with 1 customer as a tour guide.

I guess this is a different way to get around a new place!

Good idea.

$200.00 plus tip & gas, but it's still slow in Cancun and you can probably get it for less.

Travel Tips for Cancún

Relax in Paradise

by Etoile2B

When in Cancun do as the Spring Breakers do! That seems to be the motto around here. Most people come to Cancun to relax, lay in the sun and party. So while you're here don't forget to grab a beach chair on the sparkling white sand, order a margarita and take the time to enjoy the most gorgeous waters that surround you. Relax with your amigas, forget your troubles and leave the rest of the world behind you for the brief moments you're in this party paradise. Enjoying the sun and scenery with my girlfriends. I don't get to see them on a daily basis any longer so it was nice to have a little unadulterated "us" time with the "girlies".

ALMOST RAINING...

The air was very warm and humid and due to that hurricane nearby very cloudy!
I only had a few days to spend in this very touristical resort (well, sometimes it's the easiest way that wins...lol) and wanted to use my time doing fairly nothing except sunbathing, some shopping, listening to some mariachis and tasting local delicacies!

Don't expect to see any pictures of pyramids, museums or other ancient vestiges - I didn't have the time nor the strenght to go this time :-)!!

xcaret night show and Mexican dance presentations

by hanspeter_W.

after an impressive Mexican folklore dance demonstrations at the theater in the afternoon the high point of any Xcaret visit is the Xcaret's Grand Night Performances for all your senses. An epic celebration with the sights and sounds of a grand festival set in Mexico's golden years, the splendor of Mayan kings, the drama of the Ball Game and the ball of fire in the impressive Taxli Ball Court, followed by an unforgetable gala performance of Mexico's regional music and dance. Over 200 performers in an incredible pageant of colourm sight and sound.

Using Pay-phones

by joelaptop

Their pay-phones take cards not coins. The only coin phone I had seen was at the airport. You buy a Ladetel/Telmex card from a local shop like Oxxo. The increments are in pesos. Raise phone off hook. Insert the card the way the arrow says. Wait for the machine to accept the card. To call a USA number dial "001+ area code + phone number"
