DO NOT STAY HERE I REPEAT DO NOT STAY HERE!

I’m not sure where to start with this one, because this was really unbelievable. I have never experienced such bad customer service. I have been to Mexico before, to San Lucas, Cabo actually and had a wonderful experience so naturally, I was expecting the same outstanding customer service, and stay. We arrived to the hotel and checked in. It was supposed to be two guests staying in a DOUBLE CLUB room, not a couple. I booked DIRECTLY with the hotel. We arrived and they told us that we only have 1 bed in our room. We were furious about that. IRATE!! We didn’t get what we paid for! On top of that, we were expecting a “private check in,” which is suppose to come with the club rooms. There were other guests complaining about the situation too. Four guys with one king bed, Three Women with one king bed. It was just one big ghetto mess. Nobody got what they had booked!! I suggested to them that if you can’t give us what we booked, how can you accommodate us? They said nothing! They did not care about the hotel’s reputation! The guy Victor was extremely rude. He said go to another hotel! How rude of these people. What they do is illegal. You book something and you get something else. I can understand if we booked thru a third party and the reservation got messed up but we booked DIRECTLY WITH THEM! After disputing for 4 hours we had no choice but to take the so called “club room” with ONE bed. We were finally sent to the “private club room check in” and Patricia could not even assist us. She was another bold face liar. She told us that we could use the minibar in the room. Next thing you know when we check out, we have a BILL!!
We finally get to our room. I must say the view was amazing though. The elevators are super slow. Room Service, we probably called in 20 times and let it ring forever. They just don’t pick up! The pool was nice and clean at first but by night time, there’s cups and everything floating around. The food was blah, nothing spectacular. The drinks were watered down. This place is really like a Motel 6, I could not believe anything was “luxurious” about this place. The shower head had no pressure. They do not give you any wash cloths. The pool lobby by the elevator had garbage all around. There was no wifi, which was supposed to be included with the "all inclusive." They claim it was down. Really? for 5 days straight! On top of that we all got sick! Coughing, Sore Throat, Bloody Mucus, we went to the doctor and they said that it could be that the hotel AC vents were not clean. That’s how we got our viral infection. I relied on tripadvisior to book this hotel. At first, all the reviews were positive and we were looking forward to this trip. This hotel really makes me never want to go to Cancun if this is what I’m supposed to expect – the wrong room, germs everywhere and a viral infection. DO NOT STAY HERE! I repeat DO NOT STAY HERE! Even if its $1 a night. This is coming from a person who prides themselves at staying at luxurious places! The staff is rude and unfriendly, ungrateful. When we finally received our food from room service, of course we were going to tip the man; he already has his hands out! Like dude WAIT! Also, be careful at night, there are a bunch of trannies parading in front of the hotel. YES TRANNIES! On top of that, little kids harassing you to buy bracelets. Why would you want to go through that EVERY NIGHT!

Lively place

A friend of mine, tourist operator, booked us in this hotel, that without showing the outstanding architecture of many other, had the best ratio price/quality, and the best location. He was right, and I may had a very good animation. We had no time to get bored in Kristal!

Best Location

My travel agent was a good friend, dealing with me not as client but as... friend. That's why he insisted to send us to Krystal a simple hotel compared to the outstanding buildings in the coastal line, but, for him, the best. And it probably was, at the time, appearing in some guides rating 6 stars.

I know that it lost quality, and is now sold as 3 or 4 stars only. It's a pity, because it keeps the perfect location, and the safest sector of the beach.

NIce place for a good price

I met some great french canadian quys on my first day in cancun and they help me upgrade to a ocean view room for free. i definitely think if i had to pay for it, It would have been worth it. I loved waking up and going sleep to the sound of the ocean. nice hotel, nothing fancy but great.

Unique Quality: it has a wonderful pool! you can sit in the pool and it overlooks the ocean just right to where it looks like you are actually in the ocean. the staff is very friendly and restaurants are good also

The newly renovated Krystal Cancun is located in the heart of the Hotel Zone and has so much to offer for the active at heart. Centrally located, near shopping and dining. There is a vast array of land and water sports throughout the day. And in the evening enjoy fine dining and dancing at the disco. The atmosphere is youthful and energetic, reflective of the hotel clientele.

Krystal Cancun-pros and cons

by A TripAdvisor Member

Other than one bartender, the people at the hotel were very nice, but they didn't seem to know anything about anything. One person even had to ask a coworker about where the bathrooms were! The first day we stood forever in a line to check in only to be told that we needed to go upstairs to do our check-in since we were on the 7th floor. The front desk couldn't exchange money for us twice and they couldn't tell us the weather report or where things were, etc. Our room was nice, but we were on the 7th floor and the window was close to falling out. We told the staff once and they did nothing. After it rattled all night, we told them again and they sent someone up to look at it, but they couldn't fix it till the next day. They asked if we wanted to change to another room and we said yes. They tried to move us to a non ocean front room and I said we wanted ocean front. The front desk worker said our current room wasn't ocean front and I informed her that that was strange because we could see ocean from not one window but two! She then said all they had was non ocean front rooms and I said we'll just stay in the room with the broken window then. All of a sudden she came up with an ocean front room! Everything in the hotel was very clean.
The bathtub needed to be seriously updated, however, and the beds were very hard. The service bar in the room was extremely expensive. The pools were very nice, but they only had the fountains running Sat./Sunday. The hotel advertised a spa, but there was only one indoor spa that you had to pay for! The fitness area was very expensive too.
The ocean was beautiful and although there was not a beach directly in front of the hotel, you could walk down the way for miles and miles along a beautiful beach. Snorkeling was great in front of the hotel, although it was often too windy to snorkel there. Overall the hotel was fine. Like I said the pools were really nice and I felt that they did a good job keeping things clean. In the future I would probably stay down the hotel strip further, probably somewhere in the middle because the beaches were nicer there. The good thing about the Krystal is you walk out the door and there are tons of restaurants and shops. Be careful of people trying to sell you trips, however, because it's often a scam, and the people near the shopping areas by the Krystal were extremely pesty trying to get you to buy something. Not as much of that further down the strip.

An honest review

by TripAdvisor Member Elise909

My husband and I go to Cancun 8-9 times a year.We have stayed just about everywhere. When we saw a "hotdeal" at the Krystal hotel, we decided to give it a try. This hotel is rated a 5 star but is truly a 3 star. The hotel has been purchased by a new owner and the front desk staff is very confused and unclear about what is "all inclusive" and what is not. The "all inclusive" package we purchased included room service and all resturants. When we arrived we were told it did not. After having a talk with the hotel manager, he made it "all inclusive". (We had to fight for our rights!) We were very let down with the beach! There is none!! The only beach is a small strip that you can barely walk thru. No room to lay on a chair. By the way, the drinks are all inclusive, but if you ask for premium liquor, your room will be charged! Bogart's and Hacienda resturants are excellent. The manager at Bogart's needs to be replaced by someone with manners and courtesy! The rooms were nice. The ocean view was beautiful. The rooms do not have balcony's , but the windows open up and it is breath-taking. We will not stay here again because of the beach and the new ownership confusion hassels we had.

Uncomfortable Beds!!

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed at the Krystal in January 2004. The lobby is ok- the rooms need updating, there is NO beach at all- none! Also- be prepared not to sleep. The beds are awful!!! I don't think they even put matresses on, it's just a hard Box Spring- I couldn't believe how hard the beds were!
The service was pretty good- helpful staff and nice gift shop. I would never stay here again though. The rooms are NOT sound proof at all- sounds like your neighbors are in your room with you. Buyer beware- this is a low price, but it's a low price for a reason!

1st Time Trip questions

by cwskip

We are planning a 7-day trip, 6 people, two of whom are teenagers. Staying at Krystal International Vacation Club. Several questions:

1. Do we need to rent car? Planning to visit ruins, swim with dolphins. Best alternate forms of transport?

2. Swim with dolphins - seen ads for this, though my teenagers might like. Is it worth it?

3. Fishing - I love this but seems expensive to go out with the big boys. Any suggestions for an affordable trip, with good potential for success? Best places?

4. Krystal Cancun - what is this place like? Anyone stay there before?

Re: 1st Time Trip questions

by lizzytex

The only thing I can answer to is swimming with the dolphins. It is DEFINITELY worth it! I went two years ago and did it on Isla Mujeres. The animals are so amazing, and it's so much fun to actually get to touch and swim with them. I would definitely recommend it!
