Krystal Cancun-pros and cons
Other than one bartender, the people at the hotel were very nice, but they didn't seem to know anything about anything. One person even had to ask a coworker about where the bathrooms were! The first day we stood forever in a line to check in only to be told that we needed to go upstairs to do our check-in since we were on the 7th floor. The front desk couldn't exchange money for us twice and they couldn't tell us the weather report or where things were, etc. Our room was nice, but we were on the 7th floor and the window was close to falling out. We told the staff once and they did nothing. After it rattled all night, we told them again and they sent someone up to look at it, but they couldn't fix it till the next day. They asked if we wanted to change to another room and we said yes. They tried to move us to a non ocean front room and I said we wanted ocean front. The front desk worker said our current room wasn't ocean front and I informed her that that was strange because we could see ocean from not one window but two! She then said all they had was non ocean front rooms and I said we'll just stay in the room with the broken window then. All of a sudden she came up with an ocean front room! Everything in the hotel was very clean.
The bathtub needed to be seriously updated, however, and the beds were very hard. The service bar in the room was extremely expensive. The pools were very nice, but they only had the fountains running Sat./Sunday. The hotel advertised a spa, but there was only one indoor spa that you had to pay for! The fitness area was very expensive too.
The ocean was beautiful and although there was not a beach directly in front of the hotel, you could walk down the way for miles and miles along a beautiful beach. Snorkeling was great in front of the hotel, although it was often too windy to snorkel there. Overall the hotel was fine. Like I said the pools were really nice and I felt that they did a good job keeping things clean. In the future I would probably stay down the hotel strip further, probably somewhere in the middle because the beaches were nicer there. The good thing about the Krystal is you walk out the door and there are tons of restaurants and shops. Be careful of people trying to sell you trips, however, because it's often a scam, and the people near the shopping areas by the Krystal were extremely pesty trying to get you to buy something. Not as much of that further down the strip.
