by gipper84 The Moon Palace in Cancun was the nicest resort I have ever stayed. I completely fell in love with the resort from the moment I saw it. The drive up into the resort is beautiful. When you pull up into the oval entrance you feel like you are some Hollywood star being greeted by excellent service. They opened our doors for us. They carried our luggage to the room without us even having to lift a single finger. The lobby of the resort was beautiful with an enormous walk up bar, and shops and restaurants all around. As we were checking in, we even got drinks from a mini bar next to the check in desk. The room was really nice. We had a jacuzzi in the main part of the room, with our own mini bar. We had two standard beds, a walk in shower, and a nice sized patio with a view of the ocean outside. There were 7 or so restaurants on the resort, and I will describe those in great detail on my other pages. The service was 6 star. Yes I know that doesn't exist, but if it did, that is how nice the service was. Everyone was real kind and waited on us hand and foot. The pool is supposed to be the largest pool in Cancun, with about 8 different sections that all connect. There is a second pool on the other end of the resort as well. In the pool there are swim up bars in which you can relax in the water while enjoying a good ole mexican "ticket to fly" also known as a Listo para bular. It is a mango flavored alcoholic drink with vodka. Besides the pools, there was a Jack Nicholas designed golf course that was just to die for. I enjoyed 18 good holes and had lots to drink as I just wacked away endlessly hoping the ball would move just a few inches. I could go on and on about the resort but I will let you read the rest of my tips Theme: HotelPrice: US$180 and up » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than average

Just one of the many pools by SabrinaSummerville I booked Moon Palace because the brochure said every room had a twin jacuzzi and the idea appealed to me :-) The funny thing is, we used that jacuzzi only once as there is so much else to do in the resort that you just don't have the time (anyway, it's so huge that it takes forever to fill, lol). The resort is large, spacious, and luxurious. It was my first time doing the all-inclusive thing and I had been warned by friends and travel agents that this might lead to sloppy food and cheap drink standards. The warnings proved fruitless - standards at moon Palace are extremely high in every respect. The hotel is divided into two seperate properties on the same grounds, and we figure that one was mainly for members (i.e. those woning timeshares in the resort) and the other was for all the rest of us. Initially I longed to stay in the other part of the hotel, but as the holiday went on I was glad I was staying where I was as the other part of the hotel was perhaps too big! There are so many restaurants and bars in the hotel that you could stay there a month and never get bored. Each restaurant was different, which was great, as often big hotels will have many restaurants but all serving the same thing (which was not the case in moon Palace). The rooms are very large, very spacious, clean and well-equipped. There are plenty of huge picture windows in every room, giving great views of the pretty gardens or the beach and sea. All hotel guests are given one or more free day trips included in the all inclusive package. I would have to recommend the boat trip to Islas Mujeras which was amazing - I could write a whole review on that day trip alone! I had heard of Cancun as being full of screaming teenagers, but the Moon Palace is situated about 20 mins drive from Cancun on a practically private beach area (beaches are public, but so secluded that no outsiders go there). You know, I can't think of any downside to this resort.
The facilities are extensive - truly an entirely self-contained resort. I am adding a link to the hotel website, but need to warn you that the website is offputting and does nothing to reflect the tru quality and beauty of this resort. The Huge pool by kentishgirl We stayed at the Moon Palace in September 03, we were here for a week as part of our twin centre holiday in Puerto Aventuras. The hotel is HUGE! we were lucky and stayed in a section of the building close to the lobby area - this is where the nightclub, 1 of the bars and 3 of the restaurants were. I diddnt love it here, but I think that is because we were spoiled in Puerto Aventuras on our first week. Dont be fooled in the address - Cancun, the Moon Palace is situated quite far out, and although the address may be Cancun, you certainly cannot walk there from this hotel.
They boast that the pool is the biggest in Cancun - it is very big, and although the hotel was busy when we were there, we could always get a nice spot around the pool. The beach is nice and sandy, but there was so much sea weed - they did come along in tractors on the beach clearing it though. The restaurants I have explained in the other section, as we did not eat out in Cancun as such. The rooms were VERY nice, we had a double jacuzzi, and an awesome view out to the gardens, a huge shower and the a/c worked a treat! The staff were OK, our jacuzzi splashed out brown water at first, and the maintenance guy who came to fix it really had no interest! The waiters and bartenders did their job, that was it - I expected more from this hotel given that we paid ?4000 stg! Theme: HotelComparison: most expensive
