Moon Palace is Cancuns finest resort, the hotel is amazing if you enjoy a game of golf then this is the right hotel for you.
Moon Palace is a 5 star all inclusive establishment, majority of the residents are on their honeymoon, its quite expensive typical cost is 195 dollars a night off season.
The only draw back is that this property is far from the town centre and the beach is not very nice, the best beaches are found at the Hotel Zone.
The waiters expect to be tipped so make sure you have plenty of one & five US dollar notes.
The more you tip the better the service!
Unique Quality: Moon Palace has the biggest swimming pool in Cancun its huge and beautiful, the whole site has lush green palm trees and grass.
The accommodation is of very high standard, all rooms come equiped with a private jacuzzi, balcony and a fridge stocked up with beer and soft drinks.
The staff are very friendly, and make excellent cocktails. Moon Palace has over 12 restaurants to choose to eat from or you have the option to dine in your room
The Hotel itself has been divided into two parts the best being SUNRISE. Why? because its just been built recently, has more restuarants, bigger swimming pool, and the design, layout and interior furnishings are also more luxurious.
Directions: The hotel site is very secluded, so you are pretty much restricted to hotel boundary, there are no other hotels nearby, you have to catch a taxi or shuttle bus to visit Cancun downtown.
The hotel gardens are ever so well kept, and a delight to wander around - you may even spot an iguana or lizard!!!!!!
Our room was located close to the lobby - so close to all of the going ons!
The balcony was great with a great view and hammock, but the planes from nearby Cancun airport come over REALLY LOW here!!!
Unique Quality: The room had a shower room, mini bar with beer, water and cola.
There was a double jacuzzi and satellite tv.
The lobby area,
Unique Quality: This area has a shop, tour and car hire guides, check in,check out, pool tables, snacks and coffee area, lobby bar with evening entertainments, mexican restaurant.
agao up the escalator and there is the business centre with internet access and telephones.
We stayed at the Moon Palace in September 03, we were here for a week as part of our twin centre holiday in Puerto Aventuras.
The hotel is HUGE! we were lucky and stayed in a section of the building close to the lobby area - this is where the nightclub, 1 of the bars and 3 of the restaurants were.
I diddnt love it here, but I think that is because we were spoiled in Puerto Aventuras on our first week.
Dont be fooled in the address - Cancun, the Moon Palace is situated quite far out, and although the address may be Cancun, you certainly cannot walk there from this hotel.
Unique Quality: They boast that the pool is the biggest in Cancun - it is very big, and although the hotel was busy when we were there, we could always get a nice spot around the pool.
The beach is nice and sandy, but there was so much sea weed - they did come along in tractors on the beach clearing it though.
The restaurants I have explained in the other section, as we did not eat out in Cancun as such.
The rooms were VERY nice, we had a double jacuzzi, and an awesome view out to the gardens, a huge shower and the a/c worked a treat!
The staff were OK, our jacuzzi splashed out brown water at first, and the maintenance guy who came to fix it really had no interest!
The waiters and bartenders did their job, that was it - I expected more from this hotel given that we paid ?4000 stg!
The rooms are excellent - double jacuzzi plus large shower room. The resort is huge and can result in a good 5 minute walk to the restaurants. At check-in when you are allocated your room ask the desk clerk to show you on the map where your room is situated. If you are not happy with its location ask him for one closer to the sea or restaurants. It is much easier to get it sorted there and then than to request a change of room later.
Unique Quality: Moon Palace is not the place to stay if you want a hectic nightlife. They do have shows at both resorts and a disco at the Sunrise, but if you are into the clubbing scene, suggest you stay at one of the hotels in the Hotel Zone.
Some seaweed on beach, but not as bad as I had imagined from reading bulletin boards. A tractor clears the seaweed at the water's edge twice a day, but it didn't detract me from going into the sea every day. I must admit, however, that not many people did go in. The sea is very calm here with the colour exactly the same as in England, not the turquoise colour that you get at the Hotel Zone, but the waves are larger there.
Directions: The resort is vast with no other hotels nearby. It is around a 20 minute taxi ride to the Hotel Zone (cost 140 pesos). However there are free buses, starting at 12 noon, that will take you there.

I am going to the Moon Palace at the end of June. Is everything back to normal there now after the hurricane? What sort of weather should be expect at that time of year??
Moon palace was beautiful when we visited. I don't know the shape of things after the hurricane. But it will be humid and warm at this time of year. Renee
