Taxi/Shuttle from Airport, what is the Best Option?

by Traveler-from-NY

I am trying to determine what is teh best way to get to the hotel strip in Cancun from the airport. We have 3 people. Should we use a shuttle service or a taxi? Does anyone know how much it should cost? One final question is it better to arrange a shuttle or taxi in advance, or it this not necessary? Thanks for your help!!

Either way, it is ten dollars a person in the shuttle, a taxi is negotiable and if you have three people you can tell them 15 to 20 bucks and they take you direct to the hotel without stopping for a beer.

If your hotel is at the far end of hotel row, the shuttle trip can take quite awhile. Prior to reaching the exit doors for the terminal, you will have to run the phalanx of shuttle operators, offering you deals and discounts. They are quite aggressive. Opt for the taxi and negotiate as previously suggested.

Private Transfer (Round Trip) for 3 people from $55.00 USD with Cancun Transportation Services. Arrange the transfer online and you are met outside the Arrival Terminal by a coordinator with your name on a board.

The Vans are all Private and will take you directly to your Hotel.. no stopping or dropping other people along the way. New, Clean, air conditioned vans with friendly bi lingual drivers.

This Company Cover all destinations along the Riviera Maya.

Arranging a shuttle in advance is normally cheaper. Contact the hotel you are staying in, the airport and visit http://www.viator.com to compare the costs. If I am not mistaken there is a city bus to which is the cheapest way, but that would be a good little trip since they make a lot of stops. A taxi is the most expensive option and they normally overcharge.

Travel Tips for Cancún

Grande Pina Colada please!

I really just wanted to add this photo of one of the bartenders at the Sun Palace.

All inclusive means nice cold drinks all day by the pool.... ahhhhhh! One of my favorite memories is walking to the point and feeding some wild iguanas. Save some fruit from breakfast. Wild iguanas love it!

ALMOST RAINING...

The air was very warm and humid and due to that hurricane nearby very cloudy!

I only had a few days to spend in this very touristical resort (well, sometimes it's the easiest way that wins...lol) and wanted to use my time doing fairly nothing except sunbathing, some shopping, listening to some mariachis and tasting local delicacies!

Don't expect to see any pictures of pyramids, museums or other ancient vestiges - I didn't have the time nor the strenght to go this time :-)!!

Miserable at Your Resort? Find Someplace Else!

by Kaspian

It seems like a drastic move, but if you can’t stand your resort, just find another place to stay. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of places to stay along the Mayan Riviera from Cancun down to Tulum. If you were in your own hometown you wouldn’t suffer in silence would you? You’d just go find a new place, right? Canadian and American travelers in particular seem a little intimidated by doing this. Don’t be, it’s not a hard thing to do. Remember, you’re not in prison (Mexico’s a free country) and it’s your holiday—so make the most of it! It’s better to spend a half or full day and shell out a few hundred bucks more than expected than have a completely horrible vacation.
I guess you can do this several ways: pack your bags and just go on an adventure; use the Internet/phone at your resort to book a new place; or go out to look at places and then go back for your bags.
I’ve met lots of people in Playa Del Carmen who weren’t happy with their stay in Cancun and just got on a bus and left. They walked around Playa (using brochure from the bus station) until they found something that they liked.
Use the official Cancun Tourism Office downtown to assist in your search, that’s what they’re there for:

Mexican Tourism Board
Avenida Tulum 26
Ciudad Cancun
Phone: (9) 884-80-73

This office can also help you if you decide to try and stay overnight in some other town just for fun.
Important: If you move out of your resort, make sure you find out exactly when your flight leaves so that you can be at the Cancun airport several hours before departure.

You must climb to the top of the tallest pyramid, El Castillo. It is a steep climb and difficult to do when it is so hot and humid in the summer months. You may also climb inside the pyramid, as I mentioned above. This picture is the view down from the top.

Goto Ladies Island to chill out.

by rachel_sun

When i went to some of the beaches in Cancun,i noticed how Mexican families were enjoying the sun and having picnics together.Just a busride away, you can see the history and culture of which they are also very proud of too at Tulum and Chichen Itza. Here is ladies island which is ideal for peace and quiet and relaxation.
