Cancun Nightclubs

by cancunz

I was wondering if the club cover charges are in pesos or USD or both? All I've seen online are prices in USD but I would think one would pay in pesos at the club. Does anyone know??

We paid in pesos for the non-hotel clubs- it made our math a lot easier. Enjoy cancun!

Currency in the country SHOULD be in Mexican Pesos, not dollars, however it's not enforced by the flow and convenience of visitors. So they probably take both.

This is my personal suggestion, cash some dollars for pesos and avoid using your cc at the night club. Why? Even if you find a business that takes USD, you can have more chances to have a better rate at the currency exchance booth than at the night club. Many places take USD so they establish they own currency exchange rate and make a additional profit for taking the dollar directly.

Not sure? Make the numbers.

Today the rate is 1.00 USD = 12.8010 MXN

If they take your dollars and if you need change back, they will give you pesos in return. Most business will take the dollar at 10 and wouldn't take coins, just bills - if they do.

Pretty good advise. Little to add to it except to perhaps suggest that you give this place a try.....Not for everyone but is is a lot of fun.....

Some clubs post their cover charges both in USD and Pesos and the exchange rate is quite good.

Travel Tips for Cancún

Avoid All-Inclusives???

by jamesyGimp

A word on Cancun... The trend over the last 10 years at this destination has been an overwhelming number of all inclusive packages being offered by Hotels in the Hotel Zone.
While these offers are very attractive, I would recommend two things:
...understand that the resorts in the Hotel Zone are NOT located in a dangerous area. Many people are quick to categorize Cancun as a place located in a culturally rich and economically poor area of Mexico. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Indeed the vast majority of development along the Hotel Zone has been completed since 1990. Having said that, there are many who buy into an all inclusive and remain couped up in their hotel/resort for the duration of their stay, when the majority of the exicitement, nightlife, restaurants and other attractions are just minutes down the boulevard by bus or cab.
Don't be afraid to take a bus. They are cheap, safe and plentiful. I prefer a cab, but if this is your first trip, be sure to check with your concierge regarding reasonable cab fare rates to your destination.
Restaurants are much cheaper in town (Cancun Centro) and a bit more "authentic".
But then again, if you're looking for authentic Mexican culture, odds are you're not going to find it in this area of Mexico.
...if you do insist on going AI, do some research. There are many hotels that have attractive deals, but many still that don't deliver on their promises. uhhh...huh huh. huh.

Go to Chichen itza,Tulum and Xel-ha there's nothing like them. My fondest memory of cancun is the sky, wonderful colors, clouds are like cartoon clouds and when i stood on top of the pyramid in Chichen itza all you see is jungle and sky with a few of the other ruins in the area peeking over the trees.

Downtown, or the Centro is quite different from the hotel zone. And also much cheaper. As it's about 10 km away you should hop on one of the many cheap buses. It's quite different from the tourist zone and has plenty of things to offer. You can find more local things here, and also many cheaper places.

If you arrive by bus, the busstation is located in the middle of the Centro. If you don't know so much about the city it can be a bit confusing. There are some cheap hotels nearby and it might be better to stay here and take bus to and from the beach, as it can be difficult to find a cheap place to stay out in the hotel zone.

Water Sports: I recommend...

by Gypsystravels

Water Sports: I recommend Aqua Tours, they specialize in all sorts of water sports and tours. Jungle Tour: A speed boat adventure thru the Mangroves to explore the reef. Wow, I gotta say that this was an experience to remember. Remember to put on plenty of sunscreen the sun is a killer. It is recommended to put your sunscreen on before the journey and make sure that your sunscreen is environmentally friendly. Have a Blast!!!

In Portugal we use to say that "one image speaks more than 1000 words". Having that in mind, and more than 1000 pictures to post, I decided to change my behaviour, posting the pictures as soon as they are ready, and adding the comments later.
Don't get mad on me - I'm glad to share my pictures with you, and the comments will be added soon.
