Single Female going to Cancun alone for the first time

by amyj79indpls

Hey everyone! I will be in Cancun for the first time Feb. 22nd - March 4th. I am going to be staying at the Temptation Resort. But the thing is that I am vacationing alone :-( So I was wondering if anyone would be there the same time that I am that would like to hang out? I am 31 and will be coming from Indianapolis. Hope to hear from someone soon!

Post a VT meeting? I normally post a travel forum question: Any VTer I can meet?

And almost met one in Cancun! Except his travel plans changed! Also met VTers in Atlanta, Sydney, BA this way :-)

Good luck! :-)

You will have a ball at Temptation. The resort is perfect for you being single and its a fun party resort. There will be many others like you there be it age group or single or married and will welcome a party crowd.

Hi Amy,

I'll be down there Feb 22-Mar 1st. brining a gf down for her first time too. We're staying at the Fiesta Americana Condesa, which is on the opposite side of the island from Temptations, but if you wanna meet up to go out or go exploring, you're more than welcome. I used to live down there about 5 yeas ago, so I know my way around pretty well. I know we're planning on going to Playa at least one day and to Isla Mujeres for snorkling. I used to travel by myself, so it is kinda nice to have a contact before you go...

That sounds great! Isla Mujeres is also on my agenda. It would be great to get together! How would I contact you once I'm there?

Hi Amy,

I'm traveling alone to Cancun Thursday 24th Feb - Sunday 6th March. I'm booking a hotel right now and looking to do some tours around the place. I'm 34, from the UK and it would be great to meet up to do some Mexican exploring. Get in touch if you'd like to hangout.

Travel Tips for Cancún

Playa del Carmen is better than Cancun.

by blue-azteca

you should consider going to Playa del Carmen. Playa del Carmen is just 45 minutes south of Cancun and a 40-min ferry ride to Cozumel. It's got a great nightlife lasting as late as you wish. Also, if you're not into diving in Cozumel, you can always go to Tulum to see the Mayan ruins. Playa has some great places to stay right on the beach. www.beachcondoplayadelcarmen.com Enjoy.

I was invited to Cancun by a friend. Surprinsingly, the price of the trip, including accomodation and round flight tickets was 400 dollars for a 4-day stay...

Meals, drinks, discos and all the activities were included. We would have spend much more if we were've gone on our own. This time backpacking was a little bit more expensive...

I had a great time in the area. You can easily visit some towns and archaeological sites around the area. Undoubtedly a place to relax and forget about the daily stress...

Visit every night club in the City. Such as Daddy Rock, Dady O's, Christine's, La Boom, Senio Frog, Coco Bongo, Fat Tuesdays. Also, take a stroll in the downtown Cancun, you'll find great shopping areas!!! 'Just Relaxing in the resort'

TULUM
Little mayan archeological ruins at 119 kms from Cancun. These ruins are unique, as they are at the sea shore, in a small beach facing the sea. They were not inhabited, but used for sacrificial purposes. The main building is called 'The Castle'. You can't miss it, is the tallest tower.

The visit to this archeological site is one of the MUSTS of your stay in Cancun. A bit far (201 kms, road 180) inside the peninsula, you can do this trip in 2 days, sleeping in Merida, a marvellous colonial city not far from the ruins.
Main highlights:
The temple of the warriors, with a pyramid-temple, you'll recognise it by the esplanade with many columns. See photos at the travelogue
The Castle (see photo), the main pyramid. Every year at certain days (equinox) you can see a shadow with the shape of a snake 'going down' the stairs.See photos at the travelogue
The Ball's Playground, a big (168 x70 m) playground where the famous 'Ball Games' took place. Two teams fighted with elbows and knees to introduce a leather ball through a stone ring. The losers were sacrified!!!See photos at the travelogue
The Snail, an astronomic building, round shaped.See photos at the travelogue
