Holiday Inn Chetumal Puerta Maya

Nice place. Wi Fi does not work on the 3rd floor and I would guess the 4th. Almost everyone in our group had some sort of problem.. Ours was first off you have to get a username and password to get online (should have told us that and it is only good for 3 days and you have to get another).You can get a wire to "hard wire" your laptop and get online at the front desk I was told but I was tired of going down to the desk and bugging them.There was no remote for the tv, although good cable stations. Even when we got the remote the batteries were dead (lots of people in our group had this problem).

Unique Quality: If you can bring an extension cord or some sort of outlet multiplier as this place is super stingy on outlets. You can go online in the lobby (wall outlet there) or there is even a reachable outlet with the deck loungers by the pool (WIFI sketchy out there though). There is a little alcove off the check in desk that seems to be a bar area there are some outlets there and the reception is good. Unplug the big screen TV and you can go there, also there is one on the opposite of the room with an outlet near the corner closest to the front desk (kind of hard to see but it is there).
Pool was really nice but cold for the heat that is in the area. I was there in Jan.
Breakfast was interesting. Mostly buffet and large chaffing pans full of dinner type foods. )always black refried beans on the end (very good). There is an omelette station but if you are with a big group this can be a long wait (go early). Nice juices which changed daily.
Not really a tourist area, but a big city and has a mall with theatres and fast food court (very reasonable).

Directions: Not real sure where this is. It is a good ways from the mall, 15 min. I was with a church building group and did not see a lot of the town but we were at the hotel for 7 nights/
