Kohunlich Mayan Ruin
by lashr1999
The Kohunlich Mayan Ruin are in Quintana Roo in a secluded jungle near the Belize border. Here you can see Mayan ruins housing the Temple of the Large Masks, the Plaza of the Acropolis, and the Plaza of the Estelas. Many areas are still unexcavated so more discoveries may be found in the future.

If you are going to Chetumal you got be going to see the pyramids. In the immediate area of Chetumal there is Kohunlich, Dzibanche, and Kinichna. These pyramids are wonderful to explore and hike around. Being fairly newly discovered they give you the sence that you are the one who has discovered them.

Costa Maya stretches along the coastline of the Mayan Riviera down to Belize. Much development has occurred in this area to make it a tourist destination. While here check out the Kohunlich Mayan Ruin which are in Quintana Roo in a secluded jungle near the Belize border a few hours away.

"Bienvenidos A México"
I've been to Mexico from september 2003 to february 2004, many times between january and september and since mid-october 2005.
As some of you may already know, I don't just "like" Mexico, I just LOVE and ADORE every little thing that has to do with it, ranging from Baja California to Chiapas and from Nayarit to Quintana Roo, from tacos al pastor (alemán) to guacamole and from Vicente Fernandez to Control Machete.
Although I may add, that I do not just see the good part of it. I travelled a lot here and got insight into many things common tourists do never get to see. All in all the back side of the medal is not that bad that I could not say: VIVA MEXICO, CABRONES!!!

We took the bus, and from Cancun to Chetumal it was about 5-6 hours, Chetumal to Palenque about 8-9 hours. But I guess the times will be a bit different when you drive yourself. Palenque was a really great experience! Enjoy your holiday :)

See Kohunlich, Dzibanche, Xpujil and Calakmul along the way. There is enough in the area that you might consider stopping in Xpujil for the night. The Hotel Mirador Maya is comfortable enough without being expensive like the ripoff place at Chicanna.
