always the best: JW Marriott, Cancun

after the hurricane, JW Marriott hotel opened its doors in Jun1 2006 - in time for the summer season. Although some parts of the hotel are still in renovation, the pools outside are in operation. Cafe Salsa is the only restaurant open at the time we were there - so we rented a car.

Platinum Rent A Car is in the hotel and an Indonesian helped us with our rental... An Indonesian (Harry, thks) married to a Mexican and they met in the US... anyway, renting a car is better than taking a taxi everytime you leave the hotel. There are plenty of restaurants in the Kukulcan Blvd - especially at the Luxury Ave Mall (upstairs is fast food)...

hotel and car rental in one place: CasaMagna Marriott Cancun/Executive Car Rental

CasaMagna hasBUDGET Car Rental in their lobby. This is great since we plan to take a day trip to the Mayan Ruins. The Mayan Ruins is a 2 hr drive if done privately, otherwise if we take the tour shuttle bus, it will take 4 hrs... The shuttle tours starts at 730 to 7pm...

Whew!!! that is a long time with all their stops... But renting a car is another option -

This way, my 5 yr old son can just be whinny ONLY with us.

I've read in VT forums to get INSURANCE just in case - I did (online)... Besides the rate is just the same as buying shuttle bus tours for 3 people...

CasaMagna Marriott Cancun

Great and friendly service and staff... We stayed in the 6th and highest floor of the hotel with a great view of the ocean as well as the lake behind.

For $20, all you can eat breakfast and kids eat free... if you book online, you get 15% off on the breakfast buffet...

There is a Japanese, Argentinian (steaks) and American restaurants at the Hotel.
There is also a gift shop at the hotel that sells water, ice cream, sodas and souvenirs..

In front of the hotel is The Crab House Restaurant and La Dolce Vita (italian)... as well as pizza hut and dominos (they deliver to the hotel)

Garden View: means you will be facing the lake and Kukulkan blvd instead of the ocean.

Ocean View: faces the ocean, of corz... have balconies. Highest floor is the 6th floor.

Bahia Principe Tulum

This is a 5 star hotel with all the bells and whistles.

Hotel - well appointed rooms, clean, well stocked fridge (pop, beer, candy, water), refilled every day. Huge hotel, frequent golf cart like cars drive up so you can grab a ride to the other locations..this is a very big hotel.

Food - excellent, but always drink bottled water

Beach - great, nice waters.

Grounds - clean, well maintained, lush tropical plants and vegetation.

Service - excellent maid service.

Entertainment - the best entertainment I have experienced out of any hotel. Every night there is late night entertainment, which starts at 11pm, in another location away from all the rooms, the entertainment is of a very high standard.
