AS YOU GET OFF THE fERRY FROM PLAYA DEL CARMEN WHEN YOU HIT THE STREET THERE WILL BE A COUPLE OF PLACES THAT YOU WILL SEE. CHECH THE JEEPS OUT, THE NEWER THE BETTER. IF YOU DONT SEE SOMETHING YOU LIKE, GO TO YOUR RIGHT AS YOU COME OFF THE PIER. I SEEM TO RECALL THAT THERE WERE MORE PLACES DOWN THE MALECON

Travel Tips for Isla Cozumel

Cozumel is sooo pretty...

by JanisAnn

We love to just walk up & down that main strip in Cozumel. We shop at all the little places along the way & usually eat at this little place that is outside by the big flag. I can't remember the name of it but it has yellow awnings & umbrellas. The food is really good there. We also ate at Palmeras & had a wonderful dining experience there.
When we go back in July, we plan to finally eat at Panchos Backyard. We've heard alot of good reviews about that restaurant. The first time we went to Cozumel, we booked an all inclusive Beach Break. We were taken to Nachi Cocom & it was a wonderful day. There weren't but about 10-15 people there & everybody was spread out so that we had a very big piece of the beach all to ourselves. The waiters were constantly bringing drinks & checking on our needs. We ate the most wonderful meal. There was a big swimming pool with a swim up bar & a heated jacuzy(?sp). It was a good day. The bus was there right on time to pick us up so that we could get some shopping in before going back to the ship.

The perfect beach at the perfect price

by dharmabum222

Many of the hotels in Cozumel are in the area of the island where snorkelling and SCUBA diving abounds as it draws the most tourists. Unfortunatly, or fortunalty, depending on why you are there, this means that the shore is full of coral. This makes for beautiful fish, but little sand. If you want to sleep it off at the beach, or if you have kids that want to play in the ocean or rent jet skis, you will need to leave your hotel and go to one of the many beaches north of the main hotel area. Mr.Sanchos, a beach just north of the tourist part of town is one of the only beaches that offer free admission and have anything and everything that you need for a perfect day. The white sand is beautiful, the color of the water is incomparable. You can sit in swings as you sip margaritas at the bar, or sleep in the sand until you turn red! The food is great and cheap. Don't bother paying to get in to any of the other beaches because they are not as nice and will charge you the equivalent of 10 dollars to get in. The last night day that I was there, I turned to my best friend, tried to articulate a sentence no more complicated than "do you want to get lunch" and I was so relaxed and so content that I could not speak. This is when I knew that my vacation had been perfect! We laughed for several minutes and then had lunch in our beach chairs as the sun lowered in the sky...

New Lighthouse

by grandmaR

When we were in Cozumel the first time, I saw the lighthouse near the CG Base (photo 3). This time we also saw the new one out farther near the Royal Caribbean (and auto ferry) dock and on the Pearl on Christmas 2007, we saw the one at the southern park.

Lido Deck

by Tolik

The Lido deck is the place where the guests spent most of their daytime during sailing days. There is a swimming pool and hot tub in the center of the deck with the adjusting bars. The deck has live music(the Cool Calypso Band still sounds in my ears) and a 115-foot-long cascading waterslide coming down from the Verandah deck. The casual Seaview Bar & Grill serves buffet-style breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Here you will find some good meats, seafood, fruits, pastries etc. In the middle of the area are two machines dispensing ice cream and fat-free yogurt. Seaview restaurant is also the location of the ship’s 24-hour pizzeria, serving salad and Italian specialties around the clock.

Benito Juarez

by Dabs

There are many streets and squares in Mexico named after Benito Juarez, a Zapotec Indian who was President of Mexico from 1861-1863 and from 1867-1872. He is often regarded as Mexico's greatest and most beloved leader.

One of the main streets in Cozumel is named after Juarez and the square features the bust in the accompanying picture.
