Stay Away

Terrible (1.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on August 22, 2012

I typically don't write reviews but our experience at Acanto Hotel was extremely unpleasant. In summary the hotel is in a convenient location and has new furniture. But the noise insulation in the rooms is bad (couldn't sleep whatsoever), the front desk people are lazy and incompetent (except for Joel), the apartment was cleaned every other day (instead of every day), the bed sheets were NEVER changed (even though we asked multiple times), the bathrooms were not well lit and were humid (no window and couldn't see well enough to shave), there is no phone in the apartment (we had to walk all the way to the front desk to ask for stuff, the towels in the room were as scratchy as sand paper, the internet is slow to the point that we stopped using it (we were given incorrect passcodes a couple of times and had to walk to the front desk to request new ones), the water kept running out, the hotel gates kept being locked from the inside every night (we had to wait close to 15 minutes in front of the hotel for someone to let us in), there was food left in the fridge from previous customers (the food went bad with mold all over it).

Unique Quality: Only location good. Everything else was terrible.

this was my 3rd time in Playa and my 2nd time staying at Acanto. The hotel is so beautiful and very very clean. the staff is amazing and extremely accomadating. We were there for a wedding and had a meet and greet party at Acanto it was the perfect setting for the party. I would recommend Acanto to anyone as a matter a fact another friend of mine is getting married and she is going to honeymoon in Playa and stay at Acanto as well.

Our visit to Acanto was a pleasure. The property is the most beautiful and elegant we have seen in Playa. Most important it is private quiet and elegant. The staff was very nice and accomodating, we loved it and will be back

Unique Quality: the entire property was outstanding, the place is brand new each suite has a seperate bedroom and central air

Directions: right off of 5th ave half block from beach
