The Parrot has sand floors, swing seats at the bar, a stage for dancing, and a new sitting area with pillows, candles, and carpets. Often there are fire dance performers. I had a great time dancing on the small stage and trying not to fall off (after 8 or 9 bottles of beer!).
Drinks are very reasonably priced. Many people get dressed up and others show up looking dishevelled and wearing just their beach duds. The crowd is mixed--It's generally younger and many locals go here on their night off.
If it ever gets too crowded or noisy at the Blue Parrot, or you just need a few minutes break, you can duck right around the fence and have a drink at the Costa Del Mar and chill out listening to reggae--they are literally a few dozen feet apart.
You may not even recognize the Parrot as the same place during the day--it's unusually quiet, only a few people sitting on the swings, a great place to have a drink, look out over the ocean, and watch the beach world go by.
If you have only one night out in Playa, make sure the Blue Parrot is one of your stops!
There's no cover charge.Anything goes--wrinkled or ironed, shoes or bare feet.
