Appartment hotel

by LotusV8 about El Sol del Caribe

This place was great, a spacy apartment with everything, its location direct on the 5:th Avenue was exellent The kithen was fully equipped, Microwave, Refridgerator with a huge Freezer, coffeboiler, toaster, etc.... Cable TV, Telephone Ac - ofcourse!
It was very quiet for a hotel directly on the 5:th Av

Loved their roof !!

by rafgys about El Palomar Hostel

From all the hostels I’ve stayed at during my journeys, very few times I met people so useless as the guys that work here! They seemed completely retarded!!

Anyway… it’s a nice hostel and is the closest one to the bus station. It’s a three stories building; the dorms are at the first floor, the private rooms at the second one and the kitchen and ‘living room’ on the roof. Since it is located one block from the beach, the view from the roof is amazing! Free breakfast (milk & cereals, and if you're lucky ... some bread).

Great hostel!

by caribe_utopico about El palomar

The thing that makes this place perfect is location. Right in front of the bus station, right at the beginning of Quinta Avenida (which is the main street for restaurants, bars and clubs).
It has a lovely "deck" (terraza in spanish) where you get to see the beach and Quinta Avenida, have a drink (you bring it yourself), and get to know great people that has been around the place for a while and/or planning other trips around the country.

Safe and clean (according to my experience). A two bed bedroom will be $35 per night , with a hammock on the balcony! althought the bathroom is still shared with a few people (not too many). There are also beds for $10 bucks a night to share with more folks.

The perfect place for backpackers!

I stayed at the El Presidente....

by Kodi01

I stayed at the El Presidente. It was a four star hotel, but compared to the US, I would rate it a 3 star. I was quite disappointed. It was all-inclusive. But, since I got sick, that did not matter.

el morillo

by toddyburns about el morillo

The rooms are about $45 This hotel is an old hacienda. Its on a big piece of land but is right on the periferico. So, you have peace but are close to the city. The rooms aren't fancy but clean and authentic. The restaurant has excellent food.

Close to El Zocalo

by Rraul52 about Hotel Gillow

If you want to stay close to El Zocalo Hotel Gillow is a good bet. The hotel is clean, the service is good, and theres many good places to eat in the area. Be sure to get a room in the rear away from the street where it is quieter.

by ralphhu

Our favorites were El Paraiso Hotel Posada in San Cristobal de Las Casas, a former hospital building over 100 years of age, and La Villa del Ensueno B&B in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, just outside of Guadalajara, a former colonial mansion that has been turned into a beautiful B&B Hotel.
Pesos $460 for double at El Paraiso
US $ 88 for double at La Villa del Ensueno El Paraiso Hotel in San Cristobal de Las Casas is a former hospital and has a beautiful courtyard with lots of flowers and pottery and a very friendly staff.
La Villa del Ensueno in Tlaquepaque is a former colonial mansion turned into a B&B with beautiful courtyards and rooms filled with pottery, art, flowers, two outdoor pools and excellent service by the friendly staff.

Best place in Real de Catorce

by toddyburns about El meson de abundancia

Really neat place. It used to be a bank. The owners are a young swiss and mexican couple. Has great little restaurant. Right in the heart of town.

by Got_Snow

El Rancho is a killer place to stay, but you need to be a Resorts International member. Maybe you can stay there with reservations. Very quite beach cottages, nice pool, and bar. It is not a huge resort, but it is right on the beach. Nice quite place, and gives you a chance to meet people from all around the world. Off the beaten path.

El Mesón del Marqués - Valladolid

by graz-ie about El Mesón del Marqués

The hotel is located in front of the main square of Valladolid.

It was a clean hotel in a nice little town. Nothing to complain about.

I was there two years ago - so I don´t remember too many details... It has 90 rooms with air conditioning, cable TV and telephone and swimmingpool; restaurant-bar wit air-conditionung and international and regional cuisine; free parking, laundry service and a hand craft shop.

Mayan Riviera - El Dorado Seaside Suites in one week!!

by karenn114

Just wondered if anyone has any information about the property we'll be calling home for a week : The El Dorado Seaside Suites? Any information would be welcomed --about the suites, food, staff, gifts we could bring, etc.

Also, does anyone have any information about getting to the ruins of Coba? I've just read an interesting article and think it would fascinating to see! Is it affordable from Playa del Carmen by taxi?

Any other "must do" tours that you can suggest?

How is the snorkelling in the area?

Thanks!

Best way to see Coba would be take the bus to Tulum, then cab to Coba. You could see both ruins in a day, actually.

El Alux

by Raelee25

I keep seeing all of these great things about this place and I've been to Playa several times, but I've never noticed it. I will be going in August 2008 and I was hoping that someone could give me a hint about where it is located. I really want to surprise my boyfriend and take him there.

Also, I read about Moon and he loves techno and rooftop patios. Is this place easy to find as well?

Any information would be helpful. This is his congratulations on graduating law school trip, so I want to really spoil him!!!

Playa del Carmen is a great town about 45 minutes south of Cancun. It's where the ferry docks to/from Cozumel. It used to be a small fishing village but has grown significantly. 5th Ave is one of the main attractions and has wonderful restaurants, nightlife and shopping.

HOla,
This is Silvia from RivieramayaWEB.com. Los Aluxes is not easy to find. The resto is located in the Ejido. Avda Juarez crossing highway toward the Ejido. Just to give you an idea it is 3 or 4 blocks crossing the highway. You just ask the taxi driver and they will give you there.
Moon is actually closed but you have many rooftop patios in Playa del Carmen. May try visiting the Santanera, El Cielo and some bars near 5 ave with the corner with 12.

We do weekly vacation homes in the area and we have many property with a variety of budget. Do not hesitate in contact me at silvia.orrego@rivieramayaweb.com in case you have any question or concerns about the area.

SAludos and good luck!!
Silvia

Hotel El Campanario

by ciaobella55

I stayed in this small hotel in June and really liked it. I enquired about staying for a month next year and the guy gave me his card, but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know the phone number or email address for El Campanario or ideas on how to find it? Thanx

Re: Hotel El Campanario

by Azonie

Is this the same place?

Re: Hotel El Campanario

by ciaobella55

Thanks for your reply. This looks like the same hotel but the address given is different - probably because it's las golondrinas. I have tried the "contact us" to send emails twice, but have had no response.
