Lovely suites between 5th Av and the beach
I got a great deal on Despegar for about $US35 a night for a junior suite which is less than half the normal price. There was a living area with small fridge but no cooking facilities, a comfortable bed overlooking the lovely pool area, both a/c and ceiling fans.
The hotel isn't new and is starting to show some wear, sometimes the toilet would run on and the a/c was noisy. However everything was spotlessly clean and the staff always smiling and pleasant.
The price includes breakfast at the cafe next door - a choice of hotcakes, fruit or eggs plus juice, toast and coffee.
I would recommend this hotel as the beach is just steps away, with beach massages, and a cool beach bar called Fusions which has a fire show in the nights. You are also right on 5th Av with all its shops and restaurants.
