HOTEL IBEROSTAR TUCAN
BEAUTIFUL HOTEL IN THE MIDDLE OF A LITTLE JUNGLE NEAR BY
THE BEACH and the charming little town Playa del Carmen.
Nice people, a lot of parks where you can swim with dolphins
and see a lot of other animals.
Have stayed at Iberostar...
by ddb3
Have stayed at Iberostar Paraiso del Mar, and Gran Porto Real.
Usually in an all-inclusive package. Approx. $800 US to $1000 (for a week) US depending upon the time of the year; watch for specials. Both are unique and have exquisite characteristics.
Very upscale family all inclusive
by waltco about Iberostar Paraiso Maya
A bit pricier than other all inclusives in the area but the rooms are 1st class. Excellent food as well but the same food is available at the Paraiso Lindo next door. For this kind of establishment the people are really good. We did not book a package but instead booked only hotel. Cost was $300/nite for two adults and child. Was worth it though we never pay that much. HOWEVER, we paid nearly as much for a poor hotel in town after the inflated accomodation andfood prices of Playa finished with us.
Mexico's Best Resort
by Starlas about Iberostar Paraiso del Mar
It's hard to put into words this resort, it's absolutely beautiful. I'll put some pictures of it on the site so you can see for yourself. The pool is huge, has swim up bars and jaccuzi's in the pool.
Iberostar all inclusive
by Jode about Iberostar all inclusive
Quite pricey now, although it was lower when we stayed there because it was new. The property is relativly new, we stayed here when it had only been open for 6 months (1998). The grounds are outstanding. There are two main buildings that are seperated by jungle. They left the natural jungle standing inbetween when they built it. When we were there, there was many iguanas and a group of monkeys still living there although I'm not sure if they tollerated the tourists and stayed.
The rooms were unbelievably beautiful and there was a minibar in the room that you could use with no extra charge. It was stocked daily with beer, pop, and water.
There are two a'la carte resaurants but you can only go in them once a week, and you must reserve in advance.
5 Star
by CuriousGRL about Iberostar
Let me just say in the begginning that this is a woonderful resort for couples, family, or someone looking to relax. This is not a Spring break kind of resort. It is a 5 star hotel in Riviera Maya called "Iberostar." It was a wonderful hotel that was all inclusive. The hotel consists of many long buildings of which the entrance of each room comes out outside so it almost has a motel kind of architecture except 100x better. The main entrance of the hotel is beutifully decorated large circular lobby with colarful Mexican mosaic. Once you pass the lobby you are surounded by two side vertical pool with fish and flamingos. The hotel has 5 different restaurants to chose from where you have to make a reservation 1-2 days ahead of time, I only remember the 3 I went to which are Japanese, Meditaranean, and Mexican. Than there is also two are three all you can eat buffets, which are definately not your typical Old Country Buffets, but are premium assortment of gourmet foods. The resort has a long swirly pool that extends a long way across the many buildings of the hotel. The pool has 2 or 3 in pool bars where you can enjoy a Coco-Loco wsitting in the water. The Hotel also has many daily shows in its large outdoor dining rooms, and has a couple of bars spread out across the hotel, and has a discoteque in the evening. The last thing I want to mention is that the hotel owns a part of a beach with many lounging chairs. The hotel offers different water activities so you can rent a kayak or scuba gear. The ocean water is amazing...light blue, very beutiful and clean. ~The cool long and swirly outside pool with a mini waterfall, inside jekuzzi, and bars.
~The exotic animals around the hotels which include huge colorful parrots, flamingos, and fish.
~The food!
~Snorkeling and scubadiving lessons.
~Dancing lessons by the pool.
Loved every minute

Just returned from three glorious days at the Iberostar Tucan Hotel. We loved the monkeys, the birds, the food and the rooms. The staff was friendly, helpful and happy. It was my daughter's 21st birday and I don't think we could have found a better place to celebrate. We can't wait to go again...but next time it will be for 7 days!
Best Vacation Ever

Iberostar Tucan was coolest resort that I have ever been. The service was great. On a few days that were there, we would come back to our room to find rose petals and figurines (swan, elephant, etc...) made with our towels. There is a safe in every room, so you do not have to worry about your personal items. The food was great. I would recommend eating at the italian restaurant. It was wonderful. I would not recommend the seafood restaurant unless you know what you are getting yourself in. It is not like american seafood, but that is because we were not in America :). The only disadvantage to Iberostar was that after dinner was over you could not get food anywhere. There were several nights when we went back to the room and ate some candy that we brought because we were so hungry. Overall, I can not wait to go back.
Casa Tucan...the place to be
by butterfly_girl about Casa Tucan Hotel
We stayed at this hotel on our last three days in Playa...we wanted to save a little money and get off the main strip a bit, so we selected this hotel from a Fodor suggestion. We were pleasantly surprised...for about $40 usd we had a nice, clean, big room, the staff was friendly and it was a great place to stay. It is not the Ritz Carlton, but if you are looking for a safe, inexpensive, friendly place...this is a good choice. It is walking distance to 5th avenue and the beach. The staff was very helpful. We didn't have reservations but were still able to get a room. There is a pool and the rooms are large. They have a inexpensive and nice on-site restaurant and internet access. The staff will provide tips for the area and they can arrange tours. There is a safe for your valueables and it is walking distance from the bus station.

I'm planning my wedding at the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo in early August. I've read good reviews about the resort, but none from someone who has been married there... Wondering if anyone can comment on the wedding services?? Also, what will the weather be like in early August?
Please help!
Thanks in advance,
Brianna
