Commuting in & around PDC

by mij1

We plan on booking at one of the hotels either north or south of PDC. Is there a local bus service? What is the frequency? Is cash accepted or are tickets needed?
Mucho Gracias

There are buses, I don't know the schedule. They take cash. The local was 0.65 Pesos, not sure of the longer ride.
One thing you may find difficult, the north hotels for sure, is the close to 1 mile walk to the highway from the hotel.

We used the shared vans, colectivos, they were not at all expensive and took cash. The fare is based on distance, we took them all the way to Tulum and Akumal. If you are looking at hotels, try the area just south of PDC which is Playacar, some/most of them are close enough to walk to PDC where you can get a colectivo or bus. There are several Riu properties as well as a handful of others.

Dave is right, many of the properties along the highway before you get to PDC are a fair distance off the highway. You might be better off just taking a taxi if you decide to stay outside of PDC/Playacar

We stayed at a hotel located south of PDC and travelled by collectivo all the time. It's not exactly a bus system, it's more like a public car pooling service. Minivans travel up and down the highway all day long, and all you need to do is flag them down. The price was US$2.00 or 20 pesos per person no matter what your destination was, but that was 4 years ago so maybe the price has gone up a bit.

So dont let it go and aske for the Cash Back between Delphinus and various Travel Agencies.

immigration money

by LiamJackson10

You need to just remember to take with you your immigration money to get out off the country. They have a person sat at a table within the check in line taking it off you and stamping your tickets. I got told its different cost at different times of the year and for differen't countries , i am not sure how true this is but it cost me $55 , which is around £38. You can pay is US dollars, English Pound or Mexican.

Awesome club !!

by rafgys about La Santanera

This is more like the locals nightclub... great house music, every day till 6 or 7 in the morning.
The best day is usually on Wednesday, they have a 2 x 1 promotion all night long ... and it gets seriously packed! Love this place!!

If you're not really into house music ... upstairs is more like lounge sort of music, more romantic and quiet. Casual ...

Favorite

by kyoub about Senor Frog's

One of our favorite places to eat was at Senor Frogs.
It was just a short way from our condo, near the pier.
Funny waiters and shots for all
Some went down there after dinner for a few drinks and the band also.

Great Food and decor

by Erinalicia01 about Kartabar

I believe this is a new place as I don't rememeber it from our first trip. It's across and down the street from the entrance to the Blue Parrot (on the street, not the beach). It was one of the best meals we had while in PDC and the service was the best too.
If your looking for a nice upscale place this is a great value.
