    Fun in the Sun

    by

Sunscape is an all inclusive hotel in the beautiful resort town of Puerto Aventuras about 20 minutes south of Playa del Carmen. Mid priced accomodations with good service. Several restaurants on the property to choose from - mexican, italian, seafood and standard buffet. While we were there it is Mexico's independance day and the hotel threw a big party on the beach complete with very authentic Mexican food and free flowing tequila.

The room was okay, very cold and damp feeling but we weren't ever in there except to pass out, so it was just fine. The shower had the BEST water pressure. I was temped to take the showerhead home with me. The mini fridge was always well stocked and our room kept cleen.

Not a lot of night life at the resort but they do offer tours to party the night away.

Unique Quality: The snorkeling at the resort is the best I have ever tried! We saw a tuna, a 4' baracuda and a couple large flounders. The fish are used to being fed by tourist so they just swarm around you expecting food. Felt like I was swimming in a well stocked aquarium.

Very disappointed

We just returned from a three night getaway to Dreams Puerto Aventuras and I would not reccomend. They overbooked all rooms, and we had to wait 6 hours to get into our room as did many others. The staff had no clue what was going on and did not offer any help. We were told different things from numerous people and they ended up transferring us to another hotel by the time our short trip ended. I found out the resort had just opened in December and they clearly don't have their stuff together. When we asked to speak to a manager we were told there wasn't one there and then when we found out there actually was and when we spoke to him he pretty much walked away from us. The resort is small and doesn't have much of a beach if you like waves and that sort of thing. However, it is set up nicely for children and the food was good not great. Wouldn't pay to go back. I would spend my money elsewhere.

The True Quality Resort Experience

We had read reviews about the resort when it was under another name before it became a Dreams resort and were skeptic of booking. We decided to book the resort after calling Dreams home office to get some info. We had stayed at Dreams in puerto Vallarta last year and found it to be a SOLID 5.

The resort had only changed over on 1 December and our stay for 8 nights began on 11 December. Although there was still some remodeling going on when we arrived it was low keyed and never interfered with the guests. The deluxe ocean view room was just that DELUXE. The fixtures and furniture were all 1st class as was all of the remodeling that had been done. The resturants are 1st rate and very upscale without being pompus. The food was excellent as well as the service from the front door to the smallest needs. Friendly is the main theme From the "Welcome Home" arrival greeting to the the outstanding aim to please the customers all the time. I could go on but this review would be pages. When we arrived the crews including kitchen staff had only been in place for 11 days. With that in mind I can say that they were way ahead of resorts that had been open for years. I want to point out that the Executive chef, and food and beverage management were doing a great job. From bartenders to servers to the front desk all was tops in service. The resturants are beautiful and the entire facility is 1st rate. As a retired CEC (certified executive chef) I was impressed. Staff remebers what you like and your name as well. Rudolpho is a great activities person and Antonio is the best maitre de available as well as most of the staff. No wrist bands or reservations make this the only choice for an all inclusive.

We booked online with Worry Free Vacations to this resort with our friends. We were so excited and then so let down. The resort opened in December. The place used to be Sunscape but Dreams bought it. When we arrived our check in was suppose to be 12 according to our paperwork but check in was at 3 and of course there was no way for us to get to our room. We sat around for a while while our luggage sat in the front of the reosrt with any where from 15 to 25 other pieces. One in our room by 4-4:30 it was nice and modern. However any questions we had the front desk had no answer or told us one thing only to be told another from someone else. We then found out the resort overbooked the place and was doing remodeling above our room and below our room. We were offered a free 3 night trip if we moved to Secrets Maroma beach resort for our last day. We agreed because they said they would haveus there and on the beach by 10-10:30 but when we came downstairs to leave they were not ready and had no answers or reasons. We found out that about 20 others were moving as well. Finally after much complaining and little help from the front desk or manager we got to the new resort and on the beach by 12:30-1:00 and the new resort was unbeleivable. they were very helpful and nice and the rooms were so nice. This was an adults only resort. They also have only been open for 5-6 months. So if you plan to go to Dreams wait for a few months and if you going as a couple go to Secrets it is wonderful. So after all was said and done our vacation was fine and fun but a little crazy. Good Luck!

Dreams was enjoyable

Just returned from 6 days at Dreams. Arrived Dec 31 and left Jan 5. This was a beautiful area to stay. I liked the size of the resort and the fact that you were right on the beach. Bring your water shoes if you plan to go into the ocean - it is a corral reef area. Beach is protected so it's never too rough in the cove area.
Liked watching all the boats come and go from the pureto adventura mairna.

We had an ocean view room - great view ! A little noisy at night so if you want peace and quiet try to stay on the marina side of the hotel.

Resteraunts: liked the Oceana and gotham. El Patio was our favorite! We didn;t care for the Portifino at all - poor service, noisy and poor food. Sea side is great for lunch - loved the waiters - especially David the host! . The world cafe is OK - but not great. We got tired of always eating breakfast at the buffet - but could have ordered room service. The hostess tat the buffet is wonderfull - very nice!

We spent our time on the beach in the mornings and the adult pool in the afternoon. Really liked the adult pool and bar staff.

This is a small resort - the staff is very friendly and helpfull. We liiked the movies on the beach and everything being so close. The big resorts don't give you the same atmosphere.

There are a few start up problems with food delays - but they are trying very hard.

It is not as nice as Secrets Capri or Iberostar Maya where I have stayed before - but it didn't cost nearly as much to stay here. My college daughters and I all commented that we will probably stay at an all adult resort the next time we come to Mexico - and we WILL COME BACK!

Would I come back to Dreams - probably not - but is was a nice experience.

A little late

This was the best vacation we've ever had. The hotel staff was excellent good food especially marios! and all night hot dogs and burgers is awesome. Killer snorkeling too. You can feed the fish bread right out of your hands. and we saw a sting ray. Also a block away is the dolphin discovery where you can go watch them, manatees, and sea lions for free.!!! thats right! of course to swim with them its extra but well worth it. nothing bad to say at all. I would go back in a second.
