Oceanfront hotel in Mazatlan

In February 2008 on our way to Copper Canyon, we stayed two nights at the Aquamarina Hotel (one night on the way up and and the other on the way back. The hotel is situated right on the beach on the main street fairly close to the Malacon (beautiful location). On the way up we had a room that was clean, but nothing spectacular. Our window looked out to trees and a wall which blocked the view of the ocean. On the way back we had a similar room which had a beautiful view of the ocean. We were on the third floor and there were no elevators, however, you could get a bellboy to take your luggage up for a small propina (tip). There was a lovely pool at the hotel, but it was not heated. The mardi gras festival was on while we were there and we saw a wonderful parade at the front of the hotel. The restaurant was very nice although we only ate breakfast there and spent a little time in the bar. The staff was very helpful and friendly. There were many taxis (jitneys) available to take you into town or whereever you wanted to go. Most staff spoke some English. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a basic reasonably priced hotel in Mazatlan.

Unique Quality: The hotel has a banquet room that would accomodate large groups. Free wireless internet included.
