It isn't all that quiet

Stayed at the El Rancho over New Years and there was one little thing the latest review didn't mention; there is construction going on next door and the jack-hammering went on from dawn to dusk. Our ocean front unit was right next to it and even if the hammering part is done, they will be building for the next year or more. You can hear it at the pool and on the beach even if your unit is not directly affected as ours was. Overall, the place is lovely. The water in the units never gets above tepid, and the pool isn't heated during the winter months when the ocean and the air is a little cooler, but those things didn't dampen the lovliness of the place. But be aware, the noise of the construction, tractors, cement mixers, etc. is a very big distraction to the peace and quiet of the place, though certainly not their fault.
Perfect couple getaway

Our first trip to Mexico, and we want to go again. We were looking for a low key type of place that did not include the high-rise approach and too many people. The food was excellent and the total price of our stay was really nice. Only complaint, we understood that the price included transportation to and from the airport. Actually it included the trip to El Rancho, but did not include the cost of getting back to the airport. Otherwise we just can't say enough good things about our stay. The Ocean was right at our back door. There were never more than about six couples in the restaraunt. The menu included many Mexican dishes with fresh tomatoes, bread, fruit etc. We had no problems eating the food. WE had no problems communicating with the staff. They all were proficient with English. If you want to get away from the crowds this is a great place to go. Unfortunately there is a lot of building going on around El Rancho and I fear that the atmosphere will not be the same in a couple more years.
poor management

The place is beautiful, but management was completely unresponsive to the problems we had at the beginning of Feb 2006.
Part of our package included free breakfasts, and on-site restaurant. Because of construction, neither of these was available, and the construction noise was horrible. No one at the hotel would talk to us or consider any compensation for the inconvenience.
It's a gorgeous place, but our trip was marred by a lot of noise, and no one to complain to.
Family paradise

I was there with my wife and our 5 children. The place is perfect if you want to relax and enjoy family time. The gardens, pools and beach could not be better. The Villas are very well equiped, clean and spacious. Everyone was very friendly and caring.

Exelent place to share with my family, the villas are very good with 2 rooms and 2 bathrooms.
