Best Best Western south of the Border

This is located right in the middle of the Zona Peatonal (Mercado). It is about 10 minutes, driving, away from the bridge. There is a BW right by the bridge, but it is very over-priced, the staff is pretentious, and the accommodation you actualyl stay in are not very good.

This BW, is great. It was about 60 or so (AAA rate) a night when we stayed there in mid-March. It used to be another hotel and it is rather elegant inside and the staff is humble and very kind (They drove us to the Garcia's by the bridge one night so we wouldn't have to call a taxi). The computer with internet is free to use for 30 minutes in the lobby. They processed the AAA rate with no problem (unlike the other BW, who were just plain rude).

They offer a free continental breakfast each morning, which we were a little confused about what it included because they also have a buffet. On the Saturday of our stay, they told us to get the buffet (free!). Regardless, the free juice, coffee, cereal, and toast was nice the other days. The TV is on satellite. You get channels on both sides of the borders.

The room we got had two nice-sized beds and a realyl nice bathroom. The room also had two little vanity areas to put personal things and get ready to go out. As mentioned, it is right by the 5-blocked pedestrian zone which has a branch of Garcia's (with a bar), some cheap food, ice cream, artisan stands, etc.... easy walk to the Presidencia..

Just walk east on the zona peatonal and when it ends go South on 6th St. (Sexta). A few flocks south is the Plaza Hidalgo (where they have events like every other Saturday), the Cathedral. You'll pass the Teatro de la Reforma on your way.

We stayed here for a week and wished we had stayed their our 2nd visit, before moving downt here. You definitely get a bang for your buck. Also, they have enclosed parking and a guard. There is also a pool, but it is not really attached, so we didn't use it.

Unique Quality: Good food, nice accomodations, safe feeling, excellent service from the staff, good price, great location.
