Los Aluxes: Modern and "Deluxe"

  • I had to travel for a business trip to Merida a few years ago and stayed at Los Aluxes. Whether it was the business nature of the trip or just the hotel itself, I have to say that I was under-whelmed by this place that is often cites as the best Merida has to offer. The service is quite polite and the facilities are modern, clean and functional (not always something to take for granted), but the hotel had a little bit of a sterile quality about it.

    Let's be fair though. I love hotels with character and charm, as well as cleanliness and modern conveniences. There are many more of these in Merida than other cities in Mexico. YOu don't have to settle for a modern business hotel in this city, so don't!!

    Ther is a pool, a serviceable restaurant and all the rooms have air-conditioning. The hotel also has a concierge desk that is very helpful, as well as a parking garage -- a rarity in thise space-deprived city.
