There is a bar I've heard of called "Yes", not too far from the border. People apparently also hang out at the Applebee's restaurant, but I don't know where it is.

There are several bars just past the bridge. Some will be crowded (depending on the time of day) and some may be completely empty. Checking them all out is part of the fun. Otherwise, ask a cab driver where the action is.

Happy trails,

Marc

Travel Tips for Reynosa

A glimpse into Reynosa

by Sotiris_S

"A short overview of what I've seen..."

I came to Reynosa as a business traveller but with ample spare time to see it too.
CLIMATE: In July the place was predictably warm with temperatures regularly up to the 100's or 30's.

The TOWN: The town is small but lively. The roads in the town centre are clean and looked after, but as you go away from the city they also start to deteriorate.

SHOPS: Pretty much all you'd expect. From retail shops (clothes, electronics etc.) to banks, pharmacies etc.

CENTREPIECE: It has to be its town square. A big square virtually on the porch of the city's cathedral. It features many benches and a band pavillion as its centre piece.

NIGHT CLUBS: It looks like there's thousands of them for a city this small. I have not visited any but they're virtually everywhere.

RESTAURANTS: A myrriad of restaurants are to be found that cater to every wallet. Meat lovers, this is your paradise. Generous portions of fresh juicy meat for pennies!! A definite thumbs-up for the town.

THE PEOPLE: All are very friendly and smiles are abundant. English language skills though are more rare than a kid that cleans its bedroom.

OVERALL: Not exactly the tourist hotspot (it is after all a typically industrial town) but a decent place with good people and fair choices.
