Border town near Brownville, TX
The Valley, as the region of Texas that Brownsville and McAllen sit in is known, has a number of Mexican border towns. Reynosa, is larger than some and offers an insight into a Mexican city without all the less authentic show of a town like Tijuana.
Streets are lined with doctor & dental offices and phamacies that offer services and medication at much lower rates than can be found in the USA. Also, a number of nice restaurants are scattered about that serve delicious, multi-coutrse meals and drinks at a fraction of the cost in the USA. Some places even include live entertainment to add to the ambiance.
The streets have a typical small city feel, but they might be a slight bit dirty than many places. In the center of town is a plaza where people seem to congregate and there is an open market. You can walk down the street and shop for a variety of items including leather goods, pottery, jewelry, perfume, toys, wood carvings and knifes.
