I have only my drivers licence and birth certificates for myself and infant-will i have any difficulty as a US citizen entering Mexico? Because of a family emergency I don't have the money or time to get more documents.
Make sure you get a NOTARIZED consent letter for traveling with minor. That's husband or wife authorizing you to take your child with you.
If divorced/widow/single parent you'll need the appropiate documents to demonstrate you are the child's only legal custodian.
By road, sometimes the agents don't check for this... by air they definetely ask for these documents and that's for both Mexico and USA.
i have family near mcallen. cool. if you and your child are US citizens you will need your license, that should be all. i have traveled several times to mexico and only needed drivers license. i would try and contact someone near the border like INS or something.

Monday the 11th - We leave Reynosa with heavy hearts and travel to Ciudad Mante
