Galleria: Ecclectic and cheap
The staff here is very pleasant. The mural in the lobby is a little off putting...plastic baby doll heads spray painted and tacked onto plywood, but this is a very nice hotel with a kitchen and pool. Choice of air conditioning or fan cooled rooms. Only a short walk to the plaza.

Hotel Trinidad Galeria: Stay in a Museum
Staying at the Trinidad Galeria is like staying in someone else's dream. It's weird, wacky and wonderful. Don't confuse this with the *other* Trinidad hotel. The one I'm talking about is on Calle 60 and Calle 55, and from the outside it looks like it could be a greenhouse. But inside, its like a strange and wonderful museum. Funny old antiques are mixed up with very hip art from New York artists (friends of the owner). The place is clean, its inexpensive and its quiet, even though its in the middle of the city. A great pool, too.
EVERYTHING about this place is unique.

Take your International Youth Card.: Hostels.
There are discounts for some cards in some places. Ask for it at any travel agency or at the hotel.
I have found chap hostals or hotels in downtown. They are good and clean. The best is Hyatt i think.
There are options.
