Zacatecas - High On My List!
by Jetgirly
"Worth a Visit!"
I really enjoyed my stay in Zacatecas. I was there for three days, and those three days happened to fall during their annual cultural festival, so I was lucky enough to be able to take in concerts, dance performances and theatre for free! Even if festival hadn't been going on, there would have been lots to see and do. The historic center of the city is absolutely beautiful, and it's easy to walk everywhere you'll want to go (though it does take some time to get used to the altitude). I found the people to be really friendly, the food to be good (and affordable), and I was never bored. The perfect spot to spend a few days!
Things You Cannot Miss, Festivals!!!!!

"Festival Cultural March 31 to April 8 - 2007"
If there is something that pops in my mind when I think of Zacatecas is the color and the music of the Festival Cultural, I love it.
Music, Opera, Theater, Dance, Films, Paint, Photography, Art galleries, shopping, auctions and dozens of people together in one place!
Each year I used to walk to downtown, located just few blocks down the hill from my home there, I used to see the opening with fireworks and local food, enjoying it with my friends. I have it preserved it as a very good memory of my early youth. This festival is turning bigger and bigger each year, which now happens to be an important spot for the culture in the cuntry and our brothers and sisters from all countries in the world.
The best, seeying so many people enjoying arts.
The fondest memory, the interaction with my friends just looking at people and walking in those "callejones".
The curious, the food - From tamales, to gorditas, duritos de chicharron con salsa or cueritos. The candy from the streets or simply the donkey carrying the aguamiel in the morning next day.
The people, all friendly wanting to talk to visitors, so they can practice "englis", "french" or "german", many teens learn foreign languages in the language school, they can study japanese, russian, german, english is the most crowded, of course, french, nahuatl, etc.. so each visitor is a free practice that they don't get very often!
The interesting, the museums.
The bad, driving in downtown, plus the amount of cars at the same hour.
The worst, parking!
The important, the weather, it can be either cold or hot, besides wearing super confortable shoes, you walk a lot up the hill down the hill, up the hill, down the hill.
