Birmingham, AL, USA
Hello, and thank you for visiting the page for the town where I live -- Birmingham, Alabama, USA.
Birmingham is perhaps best known for its civil rights history. In the 1960's, African-Americans rose up against the white establishment powers across the US, and the birthplace of this movement includes Birmingham. There is a civil rights museum in Birmingham that is worth taking the time to see, and it is free of charge.
In current times, one may hear about Birmingham because the University of Alabama at Birmingham supports a world-class HIV research center, the UAB Center for AIDS Research (CFAR). This is where I work, and in my humble opinion, it is the most comprehensive HIV research site on our planet.
