Southern Hospitality and a Monument for a Bug!!!
"Old South Charm and New South Vitality"
This is Enterprise, Alabama... where I had the pleasure of growing up. I created this page as a means to not only share my hometown with the rest of the world, but to also prove to my friends here in Tucson that it is not a figment of my imagination! :-)
Enterprise is known as the City of Progress, it is a growing community that contains a wonderful blend of both old and new generations of southerners famous for "Deep-South" friendliness. It is also the only city in the world to have a monument dedicated to a bug which is pictured above... odd, indeed... but it makes sense in a strange way (see the story on my Must See Activities).
"For those who love to fly..."
Enterprise is adjacent to Ft. Rucker, which is the Army's aviation base. Ft. Rucker is home to an awesome aviation museum. The Aviation Museum houses much information regarding the history of aviation as well as several displays of planes from both modern times and the past. Because Ft. Rucker is so close to Enterprise, it is no surprise that there is almost always a helicopter flying within earshot... or a monument of one within plain sight.
"Something for Everyone"
Local parks, restaurants, shops, community activities, and of course the great outdoors provide something to do for people of all ages. Enterprise isn't exactly a major tourist attaction by any means and I can honestly say that I've never come across a person who was planning a trip there other than to visit family, but if you're ever in the area, you'll definitely receive a warm welcome.
