Gulf Pines Motel: Only Mom & Pop Motel in area!

Nice, clean, comfortable older (1950's) single story motel. Off the beaten path...have to accidently stumble on it (as we luckily did!) or know it is there. Owners very nice, helpful couple. Pet Friendly! Highly recommend. We tried to find something out on the beach, but all that was available was condos or a couple very expensive chain motels.

If you are like us and dislike the huge chain expensive motels, this one is for you! Had a small, very clean looking pool within a fenced yard, so would be suitable for children.

Mustique Condominiums: Away from the madding crowd

We stayed here for 3 days and absolutely loved it! We were on the 20th floor with fantastic views of Little Lagoon and the Gulf, one on each side of us. There is an outdoor pool with a nearby hot tub, a sauna, exercise room and free internet access (which we didn't need). The condo we stayed in was nice and modern with every amenity including full-size refrigerator/freezer, large ice maker, wine cooler, microwave, oven, stovetop, etc. The kitchen was fully equipped with a blender, coffee maker, toaster, and every other thing you might want for cooking! There were 4 bedrooms (with a sleeping capacity of 12 not including the sofa) and each bedroom had it's own full bath. The living room was huge with a large balcony facing the Gulf. Two of the bedrooms had their own balcony as well. The condo is private and secure. (See pictures for more details).

See above---the BEST thing about this place, however, was it's beautiful location coupled with it's quiet surroundings. This side of Gulf Shores is the least developed and therefore doesn't attact the younger crowd that wants a bar and a restaurant within walking distance.

we went through a private renter: Beach houses

just do a search online for beach houses in gulf shores for rent, you will be amazed with how many will pop up and how relitivly cheap they are. if you ahve a group of 6 or more you can rent one of the smaller ones, and if you ahve a large group like we had we rented a huge place. it only cost us 350 per person and that was for teh beach house that slept 19 for 8 nights, the gas money there and back (from wisconsin) community food and community alcohol (remember were from wisconsin so that was a lot) . this is by far the best way to go! any questions just ask

two double beds in one bedroom, one bedroom with two bunk beds, one bedroom with a king sized bed, 3 bedrooms with queens, and two twins in the loft... this place was huge! also had a large living room dining room and kitchen with ice maker (made making mixed drinks easy!)

also a deck on the first floor, and a deck on the roof all with patio furniture , parking under the house (it was on stilts) very large beach and lots of room to play volley ball, foot ball/frisbee, just plan old drinking and so on

Village by the Gulf: Pink and Aqua across from the Beach

This is a timeshare. A week in a three bedroom unit such as we had (maximum occupancy 6) runs between $1400 and $1200/week. That would be about $200/day.

Village by the Gulf is located across the street from the Gulf of Mexico in Gulf Shores, Alabama. It offers a swimming pool, lighted tennis and basketball courts, BBQ grills, and is near restaurants and shops in the Gulf Shores area. You can rent bikes or tennis racquets there. Pensacola is only 40 miles away. It seems to have survived last summer's hurricanes fairly well intact.

OTHER AMENITIES

Boating ( 5.0 miles)
Fishing (Nearby)
Golf ( 2.0 miles)
Lake ( 2.0 miles)
Live Entertainment ( 2.0 miles)
Medical Facilities ( 3.0 miles)
Restaurant ( 2.0 miles)
Scuba Diving (Nearby)
Water Skiing ( 5.0 miles)
Wind Surfing (Nearby)

The three bedroom units have parking underneath them so there are at least 15 stairs to get to the units on the first floor and 30 steps up to the second floor. No parking for more than two cars.

In the unit is
-Living room with a washer and dryer in the closet (free)
-Dining room
-Full kitchen
-Bedroom with a king sized bed, TV and separate bathroom
-Bedroom with twin beds and a TV (no moving of the furniture is allowed)
-Third bedroom with a single bed with a trundle and no TV.

There is a second bathroom on the hall for the second and third bedrooms. There is also a deck where one can sit outside the entrance door. All units have A/C, a microwave, carpet and a phone. However, the phone cannot be used with a computer to do email because it is a digital phone system. They do have wireless access, but it was not in very good shape when we were there.

Gulf State Park lakeside cabins: great rate in state park

We got a 2 bedroom 1 bath lakeside cabin WITH kitchen, picnic table & outdoor grill, 7 nights for $500. Woo-hoo!

As a stayover guest of park, we got 2use the state park's stretch of beach, plus their beachside resort's pool, during our stay.
I hate to tell people! The open, public beach is 2.5 miles from the lakeside cabins, if you're into close encounters with speedo-clad strangers. :)

We stayed in a private club...

We stayed in a private club, not very different from this one. Extremely pricey in the high season (May-Aug), so plan accordingly. Weather is still good for beaching from March-October most years, so plan on making your trip in the low season and save some money. The beaches will be less crowded also.

A lot of places will have their own private beach. They will have chairs and umbrellas set up for you in the morning. This is the way to go, unless you are a large group of frat guys.

I've given the website of the company we went through below. This is the page that all their deals are listed.

I suggest using Young's Realty...

I suggest using Young's Realty when you go down to stay in Gulf Shores. They have different types of accomodations all along the beach and inland. They have everything from condos, hotels, houses, etc.
Go to www.youngsrealty.com to look through all their different places. There are pictures and descriptions for each place, you can book it online, and it tells you their availability. If you are looking for something off-season, their prices are significantly lower. The place that we stayed every year was Island Shores. I would highly recommend it!
Prices are listed on the website.

Wonderful views of the Gulf, clean, and offices close by if you need help.
The condos that we stayed at (Island Shores) we always taken care of and provide plenty of space for up to 8 people or more.

Holiday Inn

Holiday Inn
(Secret: I didn't pay! Someone else did lol. Thank you)

This was the ideal place! We stayed in the Tower on the 6th floor so our room gave us a fantastic view of the ocean (the tower is not visible on this picture). Sliding doors led out to the veranda (balcony) and right below us the waves pounded against the cement foundation of the hotel....a little disconcerting maybe but oh so beautiful! My partner tells me that a hurricane in 1996(?) destroyed much of the beach so that what was once a large expanse of sand in front of the hotel was now only visible in part in low tide. 11/5/01: since that time the seafloor has been dredged and new sand brought up onto the beach to rebuild it. I was there in June and it looked completely different----and there was a myriad of shells and acres of soft white sand.
The hotel has an indoor heated pool, an outdoor pool, and a hottub surrounded with palm trees, fountains, and a view of the ocean. Very nice!!
