Huntsville - Home of American Rocket Science

"Huntsville - It has Grown."
I've only been to Huntsville twice. Once as a Child to see the rocket center and once as an adult to see the Rocket Center. Huntsville is nestled in the Hills of North-Central Alabama. It's a beautiful drive to get to Huntsville from Atlanta.
This is where Wernher Von Braun did his research post WWII. In addition to designing the rockets that helped take America into space, he also designed the V-2 used by Nazi-Germany and ICBM missiles during the cold war.
I was surprised to see how busy the city was. I remembered it as a sleepy town where the museum was the only thing going on. I look forward to returning and spending more time here.

"INSIDE DISPLAYS"
This is a view of the shuttle cockpit where the pilot and mission commander ride. The pilot console monitors all pertinent information concerning the shuttle. The commanders console is an awesome Playstation arcade. Kidding!!
Solid rocket booster that propel the shuttle into orbit. You can see the O rings that seal the sections. It was one of these O rings that failed and caused a flame to burn a hole in the fuel tank of the Challenger.
Fuel tank like the one that ignited on the Challenger. These things are huge!!In the background is a display of the shuttle cockpit.
Display of the interior of the space station that was on the drawing board at the time.
