Christmas 2006 -- Part I
When I was growing up, my parents and I always went to Waco, Texas, to visit my grandparents. But, since we have moved to Alabama, my parents and my husband's parents usually gather here in Huntsville for the holidays. This year, only my parents could make it. They drove in (15 hours each way) from Wichita Falls, Texas, and we observed a lot of our Christmas rituals -- like playing cards with Mother usually winning, eating too much holiday food, hitting the after-Christmas sales at the mall, and doing the little odds-and-ends household chores that seem to build up over the year.
